Bill was the one who put the great players and coaches around Brady to make the dynasty possible. He failed to build a winner when Brady left, and Brady won a Lombardi without him, so that helped create an either or narrative, but without Seymour, Wilfork, Mankins, Branch, Harrison, McCourty, Gronk, Edelman, Hightower, Weis, Crennel, Scarnecchia, MacDaniels, Adams and many others I haven’t named it wouldn’t have happened. Neither one coach or one player can win Lombardi’s on their own, but media and fans need a narrative to run with so they highlight the obvious while dismissing all those around them, and that’s just not the way it works. Just look at the Seattle Super Bowl, not only do they do not win that Super Bowl if Butler doesn’t intercept that pass, but they don’t win it unless Browner repositions Butler moments before it, or if Hightower doesn’t stone Marshawn Lynch on the play before it. And there are hundreds of plays and moments throughout the season that ultimately lead to even getting to those final seconds. Brady and Belichick were the two most important pieces, and both are GOATS because of it, but so much more goes into their success, and arguing that it was just one or the other diminishes the contributions of all of those who really did contribute to it.
