Patriots Player Departure Jabrill Peppers Released (Update: Signs w/Steelers)

As Sam said why wouldn’t he have done that on Tuesday. Reminds me of the early 2000’s.

Vrabel did it just to upset Sam. He doesn’t care about winning, he just wants to upset all those little Felger ducklings. They are very easy to spot, they just follow daddy duck Felger around going waaah waaaah waaah waaaah

Very much so. That was another roster that was completely bereft of talent, both at the top and back end.

All gone
New era
Year one of post Brady rebuild #3

Last year's captains:
  • * Jacoby Brissett, left
  • * Deatrich Wise, left
  • * David Andrews, released (failed physical)
  • * Ja'Whaun Bentley, released (failed physical)
  • * Joe Cardona, released
  • * Jabrill Peppers,

The main issue then is what happened over the last 48 hours for this to happen now, so that they ended up cutting a player they could've kept?
This is what I'm tending to believe.. something likely transpired especially with Karen Gurgregian mentioned he was on 2nd team last few practices.. also I think it's fair to say something should ha e been up with peppers playing in the last pre-season games as well.

Hawkins is not a "box safety". He's a Free Safety. Just not a very good one.

Woodson is more than a "Box safety" as well.

Ok thats fair. Hawkins lined up on the box 31% of the time last year. I think Woodson is the opposite. He is a more of a box, and will line up just outside of it in the strong with a backpedal. He has potential to be versatile going sideline to sideline. In college, he was at FS 45%, SS 35%, and slot 20%. It will be an interesting year.

This has to be off-field issues

If we believe we Dugger was shopped, it doesnt make sense to release Peppers.

Something will come up in the coming days/hours
My non-publicly-sourced take is that he tested positive for the booger sugar.

Edit: By the way, if he did test positive, and the police weren't involved, you won't hear about it, since he wasn't suspended by the league. It wasn't a league test.

When did he say that?
“I mean the base, which is only 20% of the time, will be a (3-4) structure,” Vrabel said. “But most of the game is played with substituted defenses anyway.”

“These nickels are becoming the most important position – well, one of the most important positions,“ Vrabel said. ”It’s a play-making linebacker that blitz, that can cover, that’s instinctive. There’s so many bubble relief throws that they got to be able to tackle. Try to try and find guys that can play man also in the slot."

I suspect he was generalizing and we won’t see that. His defenses have averaged 3.5+ corners per snap.
Who knows. Some games will be more. Some will be less.

Yes- that is what I read.

I expect the total to be about 5%. It won’t be “base” against anything, it will be a situational sub package. Like when Jacksonville ran 58 straight times.

Maybe Vrabel is about to be an innovator and debut the 2-5

I remember some saying it was so the young guys could get reps with him but it looks like that wasn't the case.
