The whole Felger and Mazz discussion always intrigues me. They are to Boston sports what the WWE is to wrestling. Sure, they’re technically talking sports, but it is mainly entertainment. Manufactured drama and nonsense, but I at least usually find them entertaining. They flat out tell you that some (most) of what they say are just takes for the show, and one of the things Felger says on a daily basis is "We have a show to do today," which basically means he knows he is throwing out a hot take and that there is a good chance he is wrong, but they have to entertain people in that moment.
I honestly think Felger could name about 5 current Patriots right now off the top of his head. I like the show because I don't listen for insight or analysis; I listen to be entertained and have something on in the background of my workday. My only real critique is how little any of them contradict Felger. Jim Murray will on occasion, but Mazz almost never does, but on the rare instance it happens, it makes for some of their best radio.e
