LOLToo bad it didn’t work out. I't would have been nice to have Strange 69 for the next several years. Oh what could have been.
Good points on that draft, though I still would have liked to see them draft Christian Watson there and they could have still taken Strange with their next pick (no other guards taken between the Pats pick and the Tampa pick).Without context it seems bizarre.
But once you realize:
#1. He was going at the top of the 3rd round if not earlier.
#2. The Patriots had him rated mid 2nd round which is why they tried to trade out of the pick and drop back but they couldn't find a buyer.
#3. They didn't have anyone rated much higher on their board and definitely not at a need position.
#4. The 2nd round was basically a huge bust. Go look at it. Heck, outside of McDuffie, the latter part of the first round also busted.
This board and media were mocking Trent McDuffie to the Pats. Quay Walker and Devin Lloyd were also very popular choices. LB was a major need after the 2021 season. All way more productive players than Strange. The trade down and reaching for a G was just not the right move for Bill at that time. It was basically what many feared Logan Mankins was going to be when he snuck into the 1st round in 2005.Without context it seems bizarre.

People still existing in a universe where they can look backwards and always make the right pick? RidiculousPeople are still unironically defending/justifying the Strange pick? Absolutely unreal.

They claimed 2 players off of waivers. They need to OPEN another roster spot.we got a spot with bourne gone, we should bring him back.
My top 5 head scratchers all things considered (where the roster was at at the time, the position, the risk, etc)Top 5 most bizarre BB picks.

George Karloftis was the next pick after Strange makes points 1-4 mootWithout context it seems bizarre.
