I don’t really understand why Bourne made the 53, after not participating during training camp for the past three week with a knee inury, rather than being put on the IR to return list (or being cut)?

Maybe McDaniels really pushed for him because he did so well in his offense during their one year together or maybe they think he has some potential trade value and just has to show that he is healthy. There are a few teams who are really desperate for wide receivers, Minnesota being at the top of that list.
Oh another one.

8 WR’s is very strange. One backup guard is also strange.

That said…today will really be when the actual roster starts to shape up.

My number of claimed players from other teams is 4.

Your question should be why Javon Baker made the 53 because he sucks.

Over and over I've read comments about how little depth we have. The Giants game was pretty good proof.

Yet the board can't understand why we kept real NFL players over a bunch of JAGS because the team is overloaded at one position.

It's a week and a half from the first game and the team can bring up two players from the squad for backups, if that's the best we can do for talent.

The goal at this point should be to retain talent. Our drafts have sucked. That's what Vrabel inherited.

Roster composition will work itself out.

The goal is to get Drake Maye to the next level...you do that with a veteran presence and hope some of those young WR's: not named Baker pan out.

Then you should start by getting guys to protect him. He can't throw to good, bad or prime Randy Moss when he's on his ass.

Yup I vented but I never calmed down because it's just too glaring of a hole. It even kept me up a little late.
FFS dude get a hobby, maybe bird watching or Tai Chi, if this crap keeps you posting or up a little late. Worst case a bottle of Taylor Fladgate 40 year old and have a small glass before bedtime and read a physical book about something boring that matters.

And FWIW the bird watching wasn't a dig. You're not officially old until you tell a stranger about the Pileated woodpecker pair on your property.

I get it but the likelihood that born is going to play a critical role early in the season after missing most training camp seems low, so why not put him on IR to return?

I think our Starting OL is going to be very good. We have some young guys and also some proven Vets. Onwenu and Corpse Moses should anchor that right side.

This is my hobby lol.

And I thought the common denominator here was that we all take it too seriously.

I don't drink very often but I had a good amount of edibles I should have fallen right out.

I asked about this a little the other day. You can't force a player on IR. If the player doesn't think he needs that much time he doesn't have to agree to the IR assignment.

I don't know exactly all the mechanics too it but since we only used one preseason ir designated for return I assume everyone else is too healthy for it.

There's a rule violation here, bud. Don't post after 2 drinks or whatever the equivalent is in gummies. 10g?

He probably made it because Vrabel has been impressed with his work ethic, maturity, professionalism and his willingness to embrace the opportunity to play special teams as a way to make the 53. The coaches clearly sees Baker’s potential as a special teams stand out. He also has good size and contested catch abilities.

You say that he “sucks” but how many practice reps did you see him take this offseason? Not many, most likely. Did you watch the All-22 tapes on the 3 preseason games, focusing on Baker? Definitely not. You don’t think that being stuck with a **** QB played a role in his lack of production in the preseason? He got open in the back of the end zone against the Vikings but Dobbs was late recognizing that and then threw an inaccurate pass. On another target, he made an excellent contested catch on the sideline but Dobbs again was inaccurate and Baker had no chance to get his feet in bounds. Context matters.

Having written all of that, it wouldn’t be surprising for Baker to be cut if they are successful with a couple of waiver claims.
