The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

No ****, Sherlock. If he quits then not only does he not get his money, but he can't go coach somewhere else (which is 100% what he wanted to do).
Well, that would be stupid.

By going back to work in the NFL, BB would help Kraft not pay him his entire 25 million.

this could be a mess if as expected by many unc just bombs this season
The Heels schedule aint too bad and you can still win in the NCAA ranks minus a QB.

Look how far ND got.

No. Just no.

Literally more than half of all NCAA teams make a bowl game. No one will be impressed when UNC goes to the Fenway Bowl or Duke's Mayo Bowl.

Belichick either makes the playoffs or he's a complete failure.
Are you expecting on of the 12 BCS teams to be NC?

Or, BB is finished? 2025 College Football Bowl Predictions - NCAA Bowl Game Projections

Look here Sonny, all BB needs to do is reach a relatively decent bowl. Duke is projected to reach the Holiday bowl vs USC. That is good enough in BBs first season at UNC.

Also, there is NO WAY that BB is walking away from the NFL this close to breaking Shula's record.

"Hate" might have been the wrong word to use. Point is all the QBs I mentioned had serious conflicts with their coach as did positional players at one time or another. Check out the Bill Walsh - A Football Life documentary and you'll better understand my point.

Saying i'm "fine" with it is not accurate. Bill's behavior towards his players never won him congeniality awards but it is not without decades of precedent as many NFL coaches had the same approach towards their players.

What you seem to not acknowledge is NFL coaches throughout history cull from a library of psychological approaches to motivate players. Bill was no different than Landry, Shula, Noll, Walsh, Jimmy Johnson, Coughlin, etc.

I don’t have a problem with his coaching style, my problem was with the way he treated the players when he wasn’t coaching them. I get that he couldn’t be buddies with them, but he was an ******* as the GM. In retrospect I don’t think he should have been in charge of player contracts, as that’s where he was a total bastard,

I think the "it's not open heart surgery" line was a big factor in Brady saying he had enough here. Good way to push Brady out the door like he wanted to do without actually doing it himself.

I see. The crux of your issue with Bill is how he dealt with them about money/contracts?

Bologna sandwiches… that was Bill?

Where did the Patriots rank the last two years in the NFLPA’s list of worst (cheapest) franchises?

Where did they rank in cash spending years before BB joined them, and who did Pete Carroll call cheap?

They just hate Bill, they think he hurt Tom’s feelings…. we’re dealing with man-children.

Didn't hurt Tom's feeling but he sure sucked without him. Nice to finally have a coach who can win without Brady.

BB drafted and developed Brady.

Vrabel also has no rings.

Yep so nice to have a coach that doesn't need Brady to win.

Bill should be inducted into the Tom Brady wing of the HOF. That's who was responsible for all his success and by his own admission. That's where he belongs. #ItWasAllBrady

Also Vrabel has has many rings as Bill does sans Brady. Also has a much better w-l than Bill without Brady.

Belichick wanted - and still wants - an NFL job. He isnt passing on opportunities to coach in the NFL so he can “stick it to Kraft”.

SB1 does more make believe than Mr. Rogers and he had his own land of make believe.

There is no BCS. This is not 2013.

If you’re asking me if I expect UNC to make the playoffs then the answer is no.

LOLOLOL!!!! You obviously don’t follow college football.

Look here junior…. No one - NO ONE - is going to be impressed if UNC makes the Holiday Bowl.

In the history of football, no NFL team has ever said “that coach just won the Holiday Bowl, we have to go get him!!!”

Oh he’s not walking away…. The NFL collectively showed him the door and then slammed it in his face.

Yeah Bill would be all over that buyout if there was a door open for him in the NFL. Based on him whining like a biatch about the owners son wouldn't surprise me if any thought of a door opening for BB from any team was kiboshed right away.

Basically yes. I don’t care how hard he was on them on the field, that was about getting the most out of them as players, but I don’t like the way he handled contract negotiations, which by the accounts I have heard from Edelman and others, and the amount of conflict he had with their best players was out of line. He basically just tore them down and showed little to no respect for their contributions.

BB also drafted and developed Mac Jones. How did that turn out. If it was more Bill than Brady why couldn't he do that with any other QB?

Collaboration drafted Mac.

Brady couldn’t do it without Arians or Bill… team game.
