Like Kyle Dugger, White seems to be in no man’s land. He’s too slow at Edge/DE and too small at DT.

I haven’t been a fan of White’s since the day he was drafted who was obviously pissed off the Pats drafted him. Then he openly talked **** about the coaching staff as to why he turned into Houdini throughout the season.

With that said, the Pats aren’t loaded where they can just trade players left and right. Keep him for one more year, then kick him to the curb if he’s still slow dancing with T’s.

It really depends on the value that we get back. This is a whole new defensive system. If White is not a fit for Vrabel's defense and we can get some value back, let's say a 3rd or 4th round pick, maybe White will be on the move. It's better not to try to force a square block into a round pig.

Im not going to hold tha5 against any player last year. A lot of us talked **** about that coaching staff, for many good reasons. Best reason is that they really were ****.

Add in the high percentage that simply become the "next" (add whichever name you want here that has all kinds of potential as a pick and fails miserably and must be traded for the NEXT future pick) and you create nothing but a team of "why can't they be the other guy's players".

And I'll add that some people only see the potential of that future. "Sucking leads to greatness" I guess because I never understood it. Yes, the draft is the key component to cheap and manageable players in a cap system.

But tearing down a year before its even started just to get more draft picks -- UNKNOWNS -- is folly and total misunderstanding of team building.

Agree. the old adage that only scrubs and cutbait play in the 3rd (or 4th) preseason game is not accurate. This is a perfect example. Some mid-level guys need to show how they're progressing or taking coaching points for different positions, etc...
That was the case for White & it appears for: Dugger, Peppers, Woodson, Strange, Wilson, Westover as well.

White came into the league with one trick - physically overpowering his opposition. That worked great in college and for a while in the NFL. But the league quickly caught on that he only had the bull rush. Now, he's being coached up to have more skills and Vrabel sent him out against NY to exercise this new coaching. It's too soon to cut him loose without seeing more of how he's on-boarding the new coaching.

He was slowly but surely moved down the depth chart and was eventually fighting to maintain his starting role on the defensive line. That appears to have vanished, as we saw last week against the Raiders, and since then, White has not been seen at practice.

He does seem kinda stalled out here. I do think his physical skills suggest some sort of potential, but if they can get a decent price for him, I wouldn't mind their moving on from him.

I had high hopes of White with Vrabel taking over, but I think this is a case where the coaches are telling him he needs to improve parts of his game, and he thinks he should be starting regardless of how he’s playing. Tough **** for him, either raise your play or sit. So yes, I do think he could be traded, because like Polk Vrabel doesn’t want guys who aren’t buying in. And I think that they really like Chiasson, and have to make decisions on who to pay, and getting Chiasson signed to a long term deal is a priority for them, so resigning White won’t be. This rebuild is a multi year project, and weeding out who to pay and who to get rid of is the critical part of it.

This FO has not earned my trust so I hope they keep White because I know they won’t get value for him if they deal him.

I believe they felt that the chance Polk regained his value was lower than the opportunity to rid themselves of the contract and gain a small amount in draft return.

The White talk is speculation now but his development certainly appears to be stagnant and he’s already 26. If someone wants to gamble on getting more out of him, he may be worth more now with a year left on his rookie contract than waiting until next season and either cutting him for a roster spot or getting even less back.

Vrabel is building his culture and his team. White has a role here i just think he needs to be locked in on one position that fits his skill set. Right now he's a rotational player. However if he's disgruntled then maybe he gets moved for a 5th?
