Belichick is 73. There has never been a successful HC in the NFL at that age.
Belichick was once the GOAT but father time caught up to him.
If Belichick was only 63 he would probably be the HC of the Chargers right now.
No NFL owner wants a HC that wants 10mil plus a year, full control of the team, demands his son's be apart of the organization, while being an unhealthy looking 73 year old with a gold digger girlfriend who looks to have taken control of the man.
That fact doesn't take away from Belichick's past greatness, just like you wouldn't want to a 60 year old Joe Montana taking snaps under center doesnt mean he wasnt the best QB in his era.
Agreed, at one point BB was the GOAT of NFL coaches, and many posters seem to have forgotten that. I always thought that until the last few years he was an underrated GM too, especially when it came to UDFA, the WW and savvy cost-effective trades. When it came to his drafting, for many years NE suffered from drafting near the end of every round, because of the Pats unparalleled track record of success.
However, just like "power corrupts"; I think that having great fame and success (and power within the organization) can be corrupting also, and I think BB simply became too convinced of his infallibility after winning his 8 Super Bowl rings. Earlier in his career he had strong willed, highly competent assistant coaches and coordinators who I assume would push back. Under him at Cleveland and most his time at NE, he had Nick Saban, Ernie Adams, Scott Pioli, Bill O'Brien, Brian Daboll, Romeo Crennel, and Josh McDaniels. All strong-willed, highly competent assistants, hardly "yes men". However, we all know what happened in his last year in NE, he chose to surround himself with his sons and past assistants he felt comfortable with like Patricia who he put in a position completely outside their expertise. I think he simply stopped listening to others near the end of his NE tenure, he felt he always knew best.
If he was at the top of his game surrounded by top assistants who would express strong opinions, and he listened to him, I don't think the NFL would really care about the age of his girlfriend.
