Surprise cuts this camp?

We have a snow balls chance in hell of him doing that. We are going to lose in this Dugger scenario: wish they had listened to some of this board last year: who saw that terrible contract from a mile away.
I'm sure it's been discussed but do you know how much he will get if cut? Thanks

Yup. Obviously that would mean the Pats would be short a vet backup but I'm sure they can find one somewhere.

I think if they could, they wouldn’t have taken Dobbs… .

Starting to shape up with J. Polk, C. Wallace, L. Robinson, J. Baker, & J. Bell not making the cut. We’ve already traded J. Milton, and placed M. Dial on IR. Think about that - from the 2024 draft we’re potentially cutting our 2nd, 3rd, (2) 4th’s and 7th round picks, after trading 1 of our 6th rounders, and putting the other on Injured Reserve, This leaves us with *ONE* player standing (D. Maye) from *LAST* years draft! Remind me again who the GM for this all important draft was!?
The guy who answers phones and does all the media now, while Crowden and Highsmith do the actual work.

I continue to believe the draft has as it's foundation a grading/tiered system for prospects that are based on a GM/HC belief in the system they want to execute for the team.
some prospects are graded as a good fit based on style of play/body type/college success/athletic profile, and on and on
some prospects are graded as poor fits based on a litany of metrics and philosophies
the process starts 24 months prior to the draft, and 12 months prior players are identified to deeper dive on.
from 2001-2024, the entire draft scope had Bill's finger prints all over every draft. even the year he was fired, the draft work was complete, other than the combine and interviews.
the 2025 draft was the first draft in a long time that wasn't Bill's to own. it was pre Vrabel. it was pre everyone Vrabel brought along. it was Wolf's draft.

I welcome anyone to change my mind on this

I agree. And I think the clarity Vrabel brought to the organization in terms of the types of players he wanted and needed, as well as the kind of people he wanted playing for him made Wolf’s work in setting up the draft board much easier. But I still give Vrabel final credit for a great offseason as he is ultimately the one signing off on every player they signed or drafted.

Vrabel was not hired by the time all of the draft prep was completed. after his hire, Vrabel for sure reviewed and was part of the group that interviewed and chose the players, but all of the leg work was done prior to Vrabel coming on board

I don’t disagree that the prep was largely done, but Vrabel is in charge, and I believe he’s the one who had final say on every free agent signing, and every draft pick. He also brought in a clear template for the kind of team he wants to build, and the players needed to build it.

Yes, he was. I agree that they are scouting and evaluating 1 1/2-2 years before it takes place, but there is still a lot of scouting and evaluation during the All Star Bowls, the Combine, and pro days. Wolf acknowledged that Chism game onto their radar during the East-West Shrine game. And this also the stretch when they set up the overall board they will use during the draft. I think Wolf and the scouts did a great job scouting, evaluating, and grading the prospects, and I believe Wolf was primarily responsible for setting up the overall draft board, but during Draft weekend Vrabel, Cowden, and Streicher played a key role in deciding the players they would take. I give Wolf more credit than most here are willing to do, but ultimately the credit or criticism goes to the guy who is in charge, regardless of what input others may have had, and in this case that is Vrabel.

Guess we can take Polk off the list of cuts... he's going on season ending IR

Nevermind; saw Ian’s thread buried 5 down once I left this thread: Thread 'Polk out for the season'

Should Tavai remain on the roster he's an asset for the LB depth.. one thing Vrabel mentioned earlier in the offseason was he wanted to make sure the depth was sufficient.. last season the depth was pitiful.
I get that, but i wonder if the problem at this point is more quality at the top at that position than it is depth.

Also the guy whose evaluation and grading system just gave them the best draft in years and years.

Haven't played a regular season game yet.

"best draft in years and years"

I am not disputing the fact that Vrabel made decisions.
I am saying that Vrabel made those decisions mostly based on reports, grades and commentary made from Wolf's analytics and Wolf's recommendations and commentary.
JK has mentioned this numerous times.
