The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Yoga, soft tissue message, nutrition ... next on tap will be some concussion water. Will Voodoo Doctor Alex Guerrero be on the staff soon?
No, Dr. Quack is still busy full-time as Brady's trainer and medical adviser, and Antonio Brown still babysits the kids.

I wonder if Bill would respond to a caller like this the same way.

Certainly not really his thing but I'm actually a little surprised he wouldn't do it. He always did his weekly spot on the Pregame show with Lynch and then Zo. Where his Belistrator segment was always good and worth watching so it's not like he just phoned it in.

Good players and good athletes will be successful in the NFL regardless of collegiate scheme so this doesn't mean a whole lot (see all the talent Saban sent to the NFL to a variety of teams with radically different defenses).

I think the big factor with Belichick, much like Saban, is more the preparation/work ethic needed/fundamentals of what the NFL demands married with techniques and knowledge of what an NFL system demands mentally. It may not necessarily be a 1:1 perfect scheme fit match from UNC to say the Seattle Seahawks or Green Bay Packers or Indianapolis Colts or Denver Broncos.

Right, but I can imagine other college's recruiters will use BB's unpopular system as a reason to not pick UNC.

It might be a FUD tactic, but such tactics often work.

I agree with this, it’s more about technique, fundamentals, and how to approach the game than scheme.

I'm willing to bet that never happened.
We don't need to rely on stories from Ohio to know how poorly Bill treated the media. We have 20 years of seeing it with our own eyes right here in NE.

He's a smart enough man to be able to give respectable answers to questions from people who were just trying to do their jobs, but he chose not to do that for some reason.

A lot of the media are bildos and got the answers they deserved. Gives us a break.

What a stupid answer. You really need to get your head out from Bill's ass.

What about the fans? Are they bildos who got the answers they deserved?

Unlike you, I can separate Bill the HC from Bill the team spokesman. He really sucked at one of those.

And this attitude did not help him when the team’s -gate scandals were news. The media could have shaped public perception very differently than it did.

Bill has nothing to do with my opinion about local media.

Fans didn’t ask dumb questions, bildo reporters did. Many of them were “gotcha” questions that they were asking simply for the annoyed response they’d receive… which in most cases was their intention.

As a fan, I didn’t want the coaches revealing sensitive information that could give an opponent any advantage on gameday… you just weren’t cognizant enough to recognize the difference.

It’s literally the coach’s job at any level to not reveal sensitive info that could give opponents an advantage on game day.

No sht… but homeboy above is suggesting Bill was a meanie for not doing so and getting annoyed with beat reporters who pressed him to do so.

I know you and 1960 want to keep this hatefest thread alive… but at least attempt to read and comprehend.

My point is all coaches can do this without being a douche to the media. Being that way is not a requirement for the job.

Also lol at “hatefest”

Not all beat reporters are bildos and some here got along great with Bill. New England media just had a high concentration of bildos. Bill’s gone… these reporters are still bildos.

Vrabel had to browbeat a reporter a week or so ago for repeating a question that had already been thoroughly answered. You just don’t hate Mike yet… give it time.

So long as you guys accept that Vrabel appears to be an even bigger douche with the media. Or at least equal so far.

Bill was nice to the media that was nice to him. He was generally a **** to everyone after losses and even after wins in the post game conferences. But most of the week he tried to not be a complete douche and of course he was nice to the few he did like and not as nice to the douchebags.
