Chism has been trending on social media videos.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, he had 8 targets on 32 snaps, about 20 of which were pass attempts, so 25% of his total snaps and about 40% of passing downs the QBs threw to Chism.

It's not proof he's going to make the team, but it's proof that he's getting where he needs to be to make plays.
Chism is a LockI! wish him good health.

No more debate. Chism is wr6 who is actually outshining Williams right now. Williams has more upside and we are still scratching surface with Chism.

Who knows he could be our cooper kupp

Keep drinking no where for Boutte: a guy who's having his best camp *seems like an oversight*. Boutte seems to understand the Offense more than KW at this point if you haven't noticed.

Oh i agree he's having a great camp and i like Boutte. The issue is where is on the depth chart? Diggs will do some under and intermediate. Williams is the deep threat (assuming he gets it together). Pop/Chism are the slot. Hollins is the run blocker.

Boutte is doing a lot well this camp. But it seems he is the 2nd option behind all these guys for those particular roles.

My personal guess at this point:

- Barring injury, Diggs, Douglas, Boutte, Williams and Chism have pretty much made the 53 cut down based on contract, draft status, upside and production.
- Hollins, Baker and Bourne are fighting for 1-2 spots. Ability to contribute on ST and/or other positions will be key.
- Polk unfortunately not able to compete for a spot.

Boutte > Hollins every other WR except Polk and Baker > Hollins.

Diggs, Douglas, Williams, Hollins, Boutte, Chism.

Stash Polk and Baker on PS. Possibly Bourne too, unless we can trade him.

Players have to be willing to agree to sign to a practice squad, you can’t just place them on it. Baker might be willing to do so, I think Polk wants out of New England and would try to catch on somewhere else.

I think we should ask the question, "can we afford to not have him on the roster". For me the answer is no. But what do I know?

A great deal apparently.

Chism is mixing in with the 1s & while I'm a fan of Douglas he's unproven as a McDaniels slot WR. I'm skeptical if his zone awareness is good enough for a high volume role. Chism is firmly on the team at this point IMO.

I hope Pop gets' it this year: we understand what happen last year with the fellowship of the miserables. It's no mystery Efton Chism looks quite comfortable in McDaniels Offense... Two Slots are better than One.

Since day one of camp Douglas has been the most consistent and productive WR there… not sure what he has left to prove.

He simply needs to stay healthy and the team around him has to be good.

And Sit correctly and not overrun the zones... he did that some last year cost us a game.

Only because the QB's haven't had the time and propensity to hit the other rookie WR when wide open downfield.
True but he’s had a lot of drops, as I said in the day 1 Vikings thread, he gets open a lot and the ball is either overthrown or he drops it.

The very reasons why I want to keep K Bourne this year. Bourne is our just in case measure; if Kyle Williams have hand cramps this year.

Outshining is not necessarily known yet at least not to us.

What we know:
Williams started at a higher level and from the start of camp has worked with 1s and 2s. We've seen some good things but for the moment momentum seems to have stalled a little.

Chism started much lower and his ascension might make it seem like he's shining more but so far all he's done is moved up the charts to the point where he is in a similar spot now (since Washington game).

It is possible in those few days that he has passed Williams but that's not something we really know yet.

Chism has moved up a category in my mind and that's very much to his credit (I never bought the pre camp hype for him or Hollins) and so far the past few days he seems to be doing well with it too. But the true test is how he performs the rest of camp now that he's working with the the top units. I'm pretty close to already having him in the roster but let's see how the next few weeks go before we have him passing others in the 53 for reps.

I don’t see it this way. They obviously have to play well or they aren’t going to make the team, but Chism really isn’t competing so much against the other WR’s as he is for a specific role in the offense, one that MacDaniels cherishes. A number of these WR’s can play out of the slot, most notably Diggs and Douglas, but only Chism plays the very specific role that Welker and Edelman played. The one where they can get open literally instantly, and bail the quarterback out of trouble, and usually move the chains doing so. Douglas plays the slot much as Amendola did, and while he can get open relatively quickly it’s not the instaneous style we saw from Edelman and Welker. Diggs plays it more like Troy Brown did, and gets good separation on a variety of routes for longer gains. I believe Chism has shown the staff he can play that Edelman role, and has made the team on that basis.

It's still comes back to the same thing he's proven he can do that against 2s and 3s with a few chances vs 1s mixed in. He's moved up the charts and will now get even more chances and how he handles that will determine his roster spot.
