My focus on these roster battles. Of course, we could see additions from other teams.

OFFENSE
OT: Lowe or Jacobs
IOL (pick 3): Strange, Wallace, Brown, Robinson
6th WR: Baker or Chism
7th WR or 3rd TE: Baker, Chism, Bell (Westover has a spot as our FB)

DEFENSE
3rd OLB: Jennings, Swinson, Rice or Ponder
10th DB: Battle or Pettus or Epps

SPECIAL TEAMS
K: Borregales or Romo

Not a big Gee fan but it seems he’s been playing and producing a bit lately. Was thinking he might make it as TE3.

I don’t think Gee would be ideal. He’s small. IMO TE3 should be 250+ lbs and a blocking machine.

Is there a battle at ILB? Could come down to Mapu or Tavai with Tavai injured (they are completely different players).

I feel like our third tight end and serviceable guard can be safe on the PS.
Baker or Chism would not be.

We roll with Both Offensive Tackles Corpse Moses is too old. Jacobs have been a surprise this camp; he has really taken advantage of his reps; and D Marrone seems to like him. Regarding V Lowe maybe MArrone Coaching can light a fire under his @ss. Efton Chism 100% we need a Slot to Back-up Pop.

Diggs - Pop - Boutte - Williams - Hollins and Chism.

Javon Baker will not be coveted by anybody. Have you seen the WR depth chart for Texans and Bucs?? I don't think they can keep everybody. Some intriguing players might become available.

That is true, those are extremely deep depth charts
But Baker has made some really athletic plays in practice and was a mid round pick. Those guys typically get sniffs by other teams.

One catch for 12 yards in a game we were hoping to lose. Better Receivers than Baker will be available come cut down.

Only 3 OLBs? And one is White who figures to play a lot with his hand in the dirt. Thats not enough.
I think we keep 6 corners.

Yes, I could include White as an OLB instead of the DE that I think he is.

Front 14
----------
DT (4): Barmore, Tonga, Farmer, Pharms
DE (3): White, Williams, Jones
OLB (3): Landry, Chaisson, Jennings/Swinson/Ponder/Rice/fa
ILB: (4): Spillane, Ellis, Gibbens, Tavai (an alternate to Tavai could be Mapu or a fa)

So the WR locks are Diggs, Douglas, Williams, Boutte and ???
Hollins, I presume?
From my amateur perspective he's probable, but not a lock.

And Bourne has zero chance to make the roster - even if the team keeps seven receivers?
I agree it's unlikely that he makes the team - but premature to put him in the same category as Polk, Jiles and Webb.

This my analysis, up for disagreement and discussion.

WIDE RECEIVER
I don't think that it is premature to believe that Bourne will not be on the 53. Even if he makes the 53 for a couple of days, he will never play for us in 2025. And yes, I do believe that Hollins is the most likely, then Baker and then Chism. As you can see, I show how we can easily keep all three.

OFFENSE
QB (2)
RB (3)
FB (1)
WR (7)
OL (10)
TE (2)
=========
As an aside, in the 5% chance that Bourne stays, I would have him instead of Hollins.

Hollins is a lock, Mcdnaiels sought him out.

I'd say those 4 are locks and after that there has been little separation from the rest of the group.

Chism has seemingly made a move and how he handles his increased opportunities will go a long way in deciding things.

After that it's hard to really say what Wolf and Vrabel will prioritize. They could use STs as the key, maybe salary expenses play into it (as in they just paid Hollins so that indicates a level of interest), maybe salary savings play into it (as in cutting Bourne saves the most), or maybe future potential means the most. Some combination of those things will be at hand and short of someone going off in the next game or 2 I don't know how to read Vrabel's mind on what he chooses.

I’d look at as a 4 man front because Landry won’t be covering anyone.
DTs. Williams Barmore Tonga Farmer (white may move inside on passing downs at least at times) I’m not sold on Pharms
DEs. Landry White Chiasson Jennings (maybe one other)
Off the ball Lbs Spillane Gibbens Tavai Ellis Mapu if he made the team.

I assumed you were looking at a 3-4 calling the edge players OLBs.
Really it’s going to be a 3-3 or 4-2 depending upon how you want to look at it and what you call Landry. 2 DTs 2 Edge 2 LB

Bourne would be a better choice than Hollins, hands down

Bourne was apparently rolled up on in the Washington joint practice and is not practicing this week

I THINK THAT WE ARE CLOSE TO AGREEING ON

DT: Williams, Barmore, Tonga, Farmer
DE: Landry, White, Chaisson, Jennings
ILB: Spillane, Gibbens, Tavai, Ellis
=================
Another DL or two: Jones? Pharms? a free agent?
Another LB: Mapu? a free agent?

I usually favor the additional lineman. Usually, the coach disagrees. Mapu does have more talent than the other two. The open question is how useful he would be in addition to what we have.
