Why is that an open question to you?
There has been much discussion about Jennings not fitting into Vrabel's system. I have had him my 53 along with Swinson for weeks.

As time has passed, I think of backup OLB as being more competitive and less sure. My current WAG is that neither will make the 53. My personal preference would be for Jennings to make the 53 along with an addition from another team.

Vrabel will regret cutting Jennings if he does, but I can’t see how he would. Edge run defenders are necessary in any scheme. He’s a top quality edge run defender, probably one of the top 5 or 10 in the NFL.
Perhaps Vrabel would regret cutting Jennings, or not. However, if he feels that someone else will fit better in his system and produce more, then Vrabel will move on. Also, if Vrabel thinks one of the other kids is a better prospect, he will keep him instead of Swinson.

I'm not sure how we can judge whether Vrabel will decide that a player will or won't fit in his planned Defense. I do understand that we can judge that Jennings is a solid NFL players and will be playing for someone.

Every system needs to defend the edge vs the run.

You are arguing a journeyman WR with a lower catch per snap ratio than NKeel Harry is a Vrabel lock, yet one of the best edge run defenders in the NFL has no value, so they would keep a young guy as prospect, yet hold onto a 32 yo WR5

Anfernee Jennings played in the wrong era. He'd be a better fit for a 3-4 team in the 90's or 2000's. But his lack of juice in the pass rush game is overshadowing however good you think he is defending the run. In fact, he looks like Vrabel in 2008 where it looked like he was slow dancing with the OT.

Anfernee Jennings - Not a spectacular player, but one of the few bright spots the past two years.

I hear nothing. Someone somewhere mentioned he didn't fit Vrabel's scheme.

Landry is a beast, but has Jennings even been on the field.

Will Jennings be cut or traded?
He signed an extension last season for short money.. he likely will be cut on cut down day.. this was all but confirmed pretty much seeing him playing into the 4th Quarter in the preseason..

This is bordering on Sidy Sow territory.

Jennings has done nothing wrong to earn this status. He's a solid NFL player. He's just caught in a management change.

Jennings has a reasonable cap number.

I can't imagine, especially once injuries occur, that there isn't some team who would be delighted to trade something for him. Maybe not a lot, but it shouldn't resort to cutting, unless they respect the player and just give him a chance to choose his own team.

I like Sow, but if he's cut, he will be on our practice squad. No NFL offers.

Agreed. I like Jennings and what he brings to a team he's been one of thr best edge setters in the NFL. At the least I wanted him to be in the rotation.. as you mentioned..injuries occur as it's always s high probability in the NFL. He would have no problems catching on elsewhere.. however it may be a wise choice to consider keeping Jennings even in a reduced role as a situational player. Sow continues to be a mystery to me.. I can't find anything on him as to his availability.. however if I'm looking at the writing on the wall.. sow, Jennings and probably, Bourne, Dugger may be on the outs.. all veterans who have at one time played at a high level.

I just don't think we're in position to be cutting good players like this. I understand it might not be a perfect scheme fit, but good schemes can adjust and who's taking his spot? Landy and White are the starters. Ok, good, agreed they're better or at least worth playing more (White hasn't actually been good yet, but we'll see if he develops like he seems capable of). Behind them we have Chaisson who, yeah situational rusher that probably fits more of a need. And then the rookie Swinson who maybe you want to keep but hasn't seemed to raly stand out yet from what I've read. I guess if you like Swinson's potential you would want to keep him over Jennings even if Jennings is better but are you really telling me there's not room for 5 edge rushers on a team?

Yes, that is question. Should we keep Jennings over one of the youngsters or a player to be acquired. I think that Jennings is better than anything that we as an alternative. However, I think that it is quite possible for Vrabel to acquire a veteran who he might think fits better into out defensive schemes. But, for now, I think that we should pencil in Jennings to the 53.

We'll see whether Sow is even worth an IR DTR designation. That certainly would be resonable if there are considerable questions about the other players who might make the 53. For me, he is worth the IR designation if Vrabel thinks that he has any future with us.

If Landry gets injured who becomes the starter?

I initially feel this way also. But what's happening is guys like Chaisson, ponder for example edge rushers that both pmay the run and rush the passer have shown more all camp them Jennings has.. however Jennings im rotation role has value as a veteran presence and one of the best edge setters in the league. Depth is vital for this team.. 17 game schedule with a week 14 bye week..

If swinson has shown nothing much maybe he signs onto practice squad. Doubt anyone would sign him to their 53 if we cut him .

Chaisson and White are on the EDGE if Landry is out.

Jennings may be a better choice.

For me, Jones is a developmental prospect that has beaten out Swinson for a roster spot.
