OT: Josh Simmons steal of draft

Don’t mean to get in the middle of something here. But in addition to loss of mobility, patellar teams come with a high risk of re-injury. So the question with Simons isn’t just how he looks, but if the knee holds up for the next 3+ years.

Gamble makes sense for the Chiefs. Less so for us.

Also, doesn’t every team and local media write an obligatory “we got us a star in the making,” article about their 1st round draft pick every year?
It will be interesting to see if Simmons wears a brace on his left leg.

A lot of posters, not just myself felt Simmons could be the best pure LT to come out of this draft. It is kind of infuriating that the Chiefs got a potential franchise LT drafting that late and we might get just an ok LT drafting at #4 overall.
So now we're basing what their careers will be from 2 weeks of Camp? This is a pretty ridiculous take considering all the reports out of Chiefs camp last were how great Suamataia looked, you know the guy that has an atrocious rookie year.

It's 2 weeks of camp, let's maybe give them both some real games before we start declaring what they are/aren't.

This is most divisive draft pick we've had in over 25 years. Logan Mankins was nothing compared to this. As advertised, the media has the spotlight on him, but they are taking it easy for now.

He'll probably wear them on both legs, like every other o-lineman.

Probably those new invisible leg braces.

Felgah and Mazz certainly aren't.

And Will Campbell has 32 5/8 inch arms. If anything we took the bigger risk with Campbell at #4. Look I hope Campbell pans out ok despite his T-Rex arms but if you are gonna bring up the arm length issue, beware of throwing stones while living in a glass house!

I was in the group who wanted to trade down from #4 and possibly take Simmons later but what is done is done. I hope WC is a big success with the Patriots. But I am still leery of his ability to succeed with the short arms. Hopefully he was the right pick. Drake Maye needs his blindside well protected in order to thrive.

A T-Rex joke, that’s hilarious. No one ever thought of that before. The Campbell haters are hilarious. T-Rex, so funny.

... and took 3 years to develop into a starting player

My point is that the draft is a crapshoot. I like Campbell and think his wingspan/arm length isnt as big a deal it’s made out to be., given his other pluses. I think most OL coaches would agree.

Btw, Mailata never played college football, so yeah, he needed time to develop.

Not to mention the steal of the draft ran back a kickoff for a td in Foxboro tonight.

That was a thing of beauty. Talk about starting a new era of football under Vrabel, that play took out the trash of the last 5 years and started them anew. They still have a ****load of work to do to become a great team, but that play turned the page.

Pats had their choice of LTs in this draft.

Chiefs didn't.

I agree on the “ issue” of Campbell’s arm length, I don’t think it’s the issue that a few here want it to be, but I disagree on the draft being a crap shoot. I think the teams that have the best front offices and scouts become better teams than those who don’t. There are many examples of this, with the Eagles being the most obvious, but one of the other recent examples is the Lions, a perennial doormat , who have turned it around completely since bringing in Brad Holmes. And I think the job the Patriots front office did in this draft is going to be a huge factor in them going from the worst team in football back to a contender. We saw a glimpse of it last night, but that was just a first step, and they will need to repeat this offseason a few times to become great again, and bring more Lombardi’s to New England. My prediction is that the Patriots will be the first team to win 7 Lombardi’s, and their front office will be the key to making that happen.
