ANNOUNCEMENT A quick note about illegal streaming channels/sites/links

I'm back with the NFL Package with YTTV this year. But I have to laugh at the timing of this thread. Because the NFL Regular Season Package doesn't include preseason and I live in NC, so I'm getting the Panthers on the NFL Channel. Whoopdedoo!

I didn't want to wait for the rerun of the Pats at 11PM so I hit the net looking at ways to watch tonight's game and after spending quite a bit of time looking at about 6 or 7 ways, I remembered do I really want to do this? I've used them in years past and remember the constant buffering especially when a buffer happened with a pass still in mid- air etc,. And then there's the constant pop up adds - and I also remembered that I had better not click on anything that pops up because bad stuff can happen - soooooooo, screw that ****. I'll catch the live score updates on my phone and watch the recorded rerun tomorrow. . .

Go Pats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Section 230 is a law in the United States that provides legal protection to online platforms, allowing them to avoid liability for content posted by users. That said, I understand Ian's reluctance to incur the cost and hassle of dealing with this. If you want to post un-licensed sites, do it on Twitter and let Elon deal with it.
That's been the one thing that has protected sites like this one. However, the issue then becomes the number of instances and whether or not they believe the site owner is doing enough to prevent it. And going to court to argue/defend against that - even if I won - is something I just don't have the resources to deal with.

The one positive of Elon buying X is that protection was under fire during the president's previous time in office, which would have killed off all the small publishers since only the bigger companies could afford to deal with it. Fortunately, it hasn't been a thing this time around, and I'm sort of hoping it stays that way.

Signing up for NFL+ for a month is definitely a good way to go. Use that every year for preseason, and it's been great.

It really is not that difficult to understand the reasons and comply with it. Actually you should also add @Ian that posters cannot post on live game threads the query or text on the google search to others find the stream, to avoid the headache because that could also be used as some indirect linking or promoting that kind of piracy.

I'm excited for the season and will subscribe to the NFL game pass , I've used in the past but in recent years when the game wasn't on my cable TV I was searching for a stream but not only the quality is bad but you have to go through a ton of adds and popups it's a pain in the ass and there are lags, sometimes you find a gold stream, top quality for free but it is difficult.

What about inbox messages/links instead of links on actual posts or replies?
We can use code words like: someone PM me a link for “radio broadcast” for Pats game or something more coded?
If it’s not posted on the forum then it never happened

Edit: I don’t think Ian should reply to this. Plausible deniability

I don't condone people openly sharing links to those on this forum. And I don't condone it in the messaging system, which is private and has nothing to do with myself or the moderators. So I'm unable to suggest/condone any workarounds for this policy.

Thanks for the suggestion Ian! I just enrolled. Seven Bucks and change for the pre season without all the hassle

You basically talking about fight club here dude

You know the 2 first rules dont you?

Does the Paramount Plus trick count? That’s the one I normally recommend, but will stop if it’s a problem.

I agree with you on the platform being protected on users' original posts, but not on algorithmically promoted content pushed by the platform.

This reminds me of when Metallica complained about Napster.

Guess which one the NFL is in this scenario.

Paramount+ is a legitimate partner with the league. So talking about that platform - as far as I'm concerned - is not an issue.

No worries. Are you talking about X, or on here?

X, of course. There's no algorithmically promoted content here. All bombast is original postings.
