It’s the constant pumping of the tires of Baker.

Are you wheelchair bound? Is that why you love this guy? Looking for a miracle ?
Since you asked Piss Me off!!

Yess: Mr Baker is making things very interesting. I think he's well ahead of Bourne and Barefoot Hollins; I'm taking the playmaker baker and hope our brass do too.
Does #Dumbass know the Playbook yet?
The reason he was scratched off a bunch of draft boards was because of his 10 cent head AFAICS.
I don't think teams didn't think he had talent, but I could be wrong.
You can't get out there if you're a dumbass.

Alright for the last time Steve: when I saw Javon Baker Pre draft he reminded me of a poor man's Bryan Thomas Jr. Even Steve Smith liked him true story.

Steve smith also likes Kyle Williams a lot.

Javon Baker seems to be running the right routes in McDaniels Offense so far. So that alone is a good sign; we know how Unforgiving McDaniels Offense can be on Rookies and even some Vets.

Yup. He's not a youngin'

Hey, Steve, how do you see the Wide Receivers shaking out? Are you onBourne or are you get the Polk outta town? Can you Diggs it or Pop goes the Weasel? The of 1 Mind want to know!
I’ve gotten so I can’t spend one brain cell on that group. PF2 just… I dunno… I’m just want to get to the end of camp so we can talk about who’s here and stop speculating on which one of the guys beyond Diggs make the 53.

I think we are going to be much better than expected in that area *WR*: with good health of course. What did BB use to say?? The strength is in the pack. With our RB's - H Henry and Austin Hooper TE: the Defense can't cover everybody. I am also glad we are practicing against a tough Defense our own; we're going beat some not so good Teams this year.

Ponder is an incredibly talented player but is raw with some unknowns. He was known as a premium UDFA get. One of those really interesting guys a lot of teams wanted to sign but didn't want to use a draft pick on. He has a skill set to potentially be really good in this league, but he is thought of as a project who needs maybe a year to grow into it to really know if he has anything to offer. Someone to keep track of. Maybe he's nothing, maybe he will be a guy who produces in the league well for 10 years as a high level.

Some people are sleeping on him, I personally think he is going to be a fkn BEAST.
We'll see.
I predict a big jump for him this year also.
He seemed ready to beast out last year, but I think the coaching staff and the atmosphere had a huge negative impact on him.
He seemed like a guy who just wanted to win, frustrated by the clown show of leadership.

I've never said he's a bum, but he is what he is, 8 years is a big sample size. If any of the 3 young kids show promise I just don't see how you keep Bourne at $7.7M. IR may be a different story.
Well it’s only 4.9 because we stupidly gave a WR4 coming off an ACL a 4.2 million signing bonus last year.
We did a lot of stupid things last year, didn’t we?

Realistically in a McDaniels offense the 4th WR doesn’t have much of a role unless there is an injury. (Unless they are competing to take pt away from 2 or 3)

With Diggs, Boutte, Douglass, Williams he would be an injury away from barely seeing the field and 2 away from any real playing time.
Hollins blocking at least creates a small role for him even if it’s 10 snaps a game, so even if Bourne is a better receiver, Hollins brings more value.
I can’t imagine we would keep Bourne as WR6 ahead of whoever shows the most promise out of the young guys.

Well interesting conversations so far. So using them, reports from reporters and my vast ability to make blind inferences without being on the scene; here is what I'm hearing.

1. Diggs has made a rather spectacular recovery from an ACL and is likely to be ready to start the season and ready to make an impact for the next year or two.

2. The WR room in general looks to be quite a bit better than what was predicted going in. There are no big stars like everyone wants, but there is TALENT, experience, and drive can make stars in the future. Players rarely come into the league as stars. They BECOME stars as they get better. Again, I see too many fans seeing a clip of a practice rep and make and instant evaluation that the player is a star, bum or jag as a knee jerk reaction. It's dumb yet continues to happen with frustrating frequency.

3 DL looks like it will be in a fight with the secondary for the dominant group on the defense. We know about Williams, Young, and Barmore, but good news keeps surfacing about guys like Pharms and Tonga, while we wait to hear about Farmer over the next few weeks. I thought we were going to be good on the DL this year, but it is comforting to hope that we might have quality depth as well

4. The same can be said about what we are seeing from the DB's. Because of the injuries to Gonzo and Davis we are getting good looks at guys who would be camp bodies and some are showing flashes of perhaps making the roster or PS

5. Like all of us, I am REALLY looking forward to Friday. I really hope Vrabel doesn't wimp out and lets Maye play a half. A young kid like him NEEDS the live reps to read defenses, get a feel for a full speed rush and get bumped around a bit. I don't want Maye's first hit to come in a regular season game.

6. What a lot of people forget is that OL play is NOT 5 guys each having one on one battles. It, like ALL of football play is a COORDINATED venture. This one on one drills they do are helpful. but are slanted toward the defense. When done right (and I'm talking about pass protection) it gets harder for defenses to succeed because it gets crowded for the when the OL works as a unit. Probably too early to have a hard and fast #1 unit but I'm hoping we will by the end of next week.

Last year AMONG the myriads of issues the OL had, IIRC they didn't play the same starting OL 2 games in a row until about half way thru the season. It takes a LOT of reps for OL units to develop that "continuity" even a month or two isn't going to cut it, but every snap brings them closer to that point and we can't start too early.

6. Still kind of irritates me that they got 2 days off this past weekend and will likely get two days off next week. I don't know why exactly, it just seems like TC doesn't seem the grueling, bonding endeavor it used to be. Do they even run the hill anymore? What ARE they doing for cardio-vascular these days? I haven't seen any reporting on this.

Thoughts on this practice and camp as a whole.

Dial sounds done for the year. Non-contact knee issue and was carted off. Sad for him and most had him making the 53 as a 6th CB who did STs. Now a spot just opened up. Not a huge loss but a loss.

Our DC needs to really take stock of his situation better. A scare doesn't mean he should walk away. But was he ready to come back yet?

Campbell is a concern at this point. Not a full panic mode concern. But a concern. Yes i like all the talk about him learning from every loss, but where are the results? He has yet to have a single clean practice in 10 chances. Hasn't swept 1v1s yet as far as i know. That is a bad sign. He is going against good players. But not having a clean win sheet 10 days or had a clean full practice in 7s and 11s isn't something you just shrug off. It is something that should be looked at with mild concern.

I am not concerned about CB depth. James seems like huge get. We arguably have 4 starting level guys now by the looks of things. That's huge. I'm not going to panic cause we don't have 6. Most teams don't have 3 guys who should be starting in this league.
Safety has not been talked about much. That spot has kind of silently been rock solid all camp.

And... Dare i say it.... I feel optimistic about our WR situation as the year goes on. Diggs hasn't proven he can be a true #1 this year... but he is certainly trending well. As long as he can be a #1 WR everything will fall into place. Pop has clearly taken another step forward. He won't be a 1K yard guy but i think he's gone from a guy who was a decent offensive piece to have as an option last year to a player who should be of some note in this league. A guy that isn't just a reliable 3rd option. A guy you look at and think... do we really want to leave our #3 CB on him and take our chances? That little step up makes a difference. I think he is now good enough to really punish most teams 3rd CB.

Williams seems uneven to this point. And that is fine. He doesn't need to be great all the time. But he is consistently showing the ability to make huge plays every now and then. That is all he needs to be to start the year. If all Williams gives you is 1 big play per game early that's fine. This offense needs explosive ability not more solid workmen picking up small chunks. To me that is more than enough value early. And there is every reason to have hope he will grow into a more consistent player as the year goes on.

Boutte will be solid and do his job. Nothing else to say there. Hollins will probably fill his role too.

But perhaps the most interesting is this, as we get deeper into the process it gets harder to dismiss the thought that we won't get a something good out of Polk/Baker/Chism. The more time that goes on the more it seems less likely this turns into a nothing burger.
