Am I just being more sensitive to injuries lately or does it seem like a lot of guys are getting banged up at an early stage?
There’s always bumps and bruises this time of year. Players are getting used to contact again, getting battle hardened. Until we hear definitive bad news, there’s no need to worry.

All that being said… they need to get through camp and preseason healthy to have a chance. True of every talented team.

Just a bad day for everyone, Maye 2 INTs after none through 8 practices, tons of injuries. What seemed like an exciting in stadium practice/scrimmage, turned into a nightmare.

can't argue with that...

and depending on what happened tonight, he might not be catching many this year either
Bourne has had moments, but take a look at his 8 career.

111 games played
292 receptions
3714 yards
22 tds.

So he averages:
2.6 catches/game, which extrapolates to 44 receptions over a 17 game season
33.5 yards/game, which extrapolates to 570 yds over a 17 game season
0.2 tds/game, which extrapolates to 3.4 tds over a 17 game season

This isn't a small sample size, this is over 8 years and 111 games.

He is what he is, which is a very average WR.

Practice is for testing limits and making mistakes. Sounds like there was a fair amount of good and bad.

There is a LOT less hitting being done in these practices than say when I was playing in College and my 2 camps after. But I still remember the pain that was there between the two practices after the first few days of hitting. You are lying in camp and you literally cannot move wondering how you are going to make down to the lockerroom to dress for the afternoon practice. And then an hour later you are running around like a man with your pants on fire. It would take almost a week before your body got used to the pounding.

These days I wonder if these guys do enough hitting to get their body's ready in the whole camp let alone a week. Guy who actually experienced full contact double sessions back in the day know what I'm talking about ... AND get off my lawn.

Bourne: 29 yo (2 teams in 9 seasons)

Hollins: 31 yo (6 teams in 8 seasons)

One pick off of receivers hand, 1 pick on a miscommunication in a 2-minute drill with a rookie, great learning moment. Tons of injuries? I thought only Bourne had to quit? Was there soemone else?

You missed the only actual bad thing, Rham fumbling!

I just watched the pick 6, if it was a hitch, Williams ran a stop, didn't come back.

I'm not arguing Hollins is better. I'm saying people shouldn't get hung up on Bourne making the team, he's simply not that good. If it came down to him or one of the 3 young guys (Polk, Baker, Chism), I am pulling for one of the young guys to step up.

Yeah but I had those stats at the ready and wanted to post them somewhere. All good.

I was impressed how quickly you had them ready!

Agreed, and by week three or four and you were used to hitting, avoiding contact, numb to it. Players need to get their tendons used to cutting again, and muscles used to absorbing punishment. It’s a lot softer now than when we played, but the onus falls on the players to do the work themselves to be ready. The team can only do so much.

I do like the way Vrabel and staff have been handling the schedule and work they’ve been doling out. Josh and the offense worked on first downs first, walk before you can run.. then opened it up. After turnovers today they may have yo go back to fundamentals… catching and holding the ball.

The defense sounds promising, they need to get healthy. I think the coaches have been going easy on the offense while they get their feet up under them. This D front might be a wrecking crew for other teams once completely let loose.
