Exactly. McLaurin will be 30 in Sept. It's not old but not young either. A JaMarr Chase deal doesn't make sense.
A 2 year deal is reasonable for his production and age. We have no evidence of him slowing down.
Historically a 2nd rd pick having an NFL career as a starter is between 20-30%. Draft picks are like high risk stocks. They are not guarantees but have value.
The team is sitting on $60m in cap space. Money is not a problem.
Our top WR is coming off an ACL injury and will be 32 in Nov. If he goes down we become seriously limited offensively.
It's a no-brainer.
I think they can have 3 guys make 30 million+ per, McLaurin would be one, then Gonzalez and Maye, so McLaurins deal would run out in time for them to use that $$$ to sign another young star, be it a free agent or one of their own, most likely Efton Chism III, who should be around 450-500 receptions 3 years from now.
