Didn’t mean to come off like that haha; just figured Slater was a household name tackle-wise at least. Yeah, he’s one of them. Most of the pressure on Herbert is self-imposed. He’s an excellent QB, but his processing is weird sometimes. You get that 85% “elite” play, but then he’ll hold the ball a bit too long or miss an easy read which leads to pressure/dead drive. Some of that is/was due to a poor running game, but that should be fixed now with the OL/Harbaugh scheme. Also, Alt is a second year player so he’s not eligible for an extension yet.

Both: he's good, but Wirfs, Williams & Darrisaw are all > him. Sewell's a RT so I didn't include him in the comparison. Slater would probably be a pro-bowl-caliber Left Guard if he ever did move there because of his shorter arms.

He said he knows him from HS in Connecticut and trying to recruit him. After that even he said the team will have discussions about whether to pursue him or not. Add the recent stories/rumors and his spat with LVR doctors/team and I don't think he's coming here.
We've seen several above average talented players get themselves into weird situations. But the finger in the bum is not reserved for the football field/locker room.
