PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP Training Camp Day 2 - July 24

Ya, don’t think that’s the case. His freshman season was his best, and there was talk he could be an early draft pick in a couple of years. Those talks died completely after disappointing Sophomore and Jr seasons, and spending time in the doghouse. Pretty misleading to say he was ever projected as a 1st rounder in his draft. I have heard peeps say this over the past couple of years, not really the case
Disagree with this 100%. I had one draft guide, even after his poor last year, had him as the #1 receiver on their draft list. I was shocked he lasted until the 6th round. Most had him going 3rd or 4th round, but others rated him higher than that.

Tweet for camp stats context from J.J. Watt:

This post should be mandatory reading for all members. In fact it should be repeated after all dumb practice stat posts until it finally sinks in for anyone who cares about this absurdity.

The bigger hit to his draft stock was due to a sex scandal at LSU. He didn't break the law but there was some inappropriate conduct. Then he had the gambling thing. So, I have to guess he was docked heavily by most teams for off-the-field concerns. But he really hasn't done anything wrong post-draft as far as I am aware.

A leg injury in his Sophomore year derailed him for sure. @Triumph

could also mean yesterday's porous O Line display is already terrifying the crap out of Josh
It could also mean that coaches are smart and use these non padded practices for install like this. Good day to put this in with no pads.

He had some things working against him for sure, but he was never considered a realistic first rounder as the draft approached. Whatever draft guide had him as the #1 WR is laughable. Look, I like him and think he can continue to carve out a role on this team, but let’s not pretend he’s a future #1 or was ever considered that by any respected draft outlets.

The gambling thing didn’t come out publicly until last spring I believe. That being said, maybe teams knew about it before the draft. Didn’t hear about the sex scandal. I think it all has made him realize he is lucky to have a chance to play in the NFL. I also think he’s gonna be a good WR for the Pats. Most likely as WR 4.

Agreed, even if you read some of the scouting reports on him pre draft, they all said he’s not a #1 receiver and has a chance to be a good #2 or #3.

I think we can give the Oline some time. Hell, even Dante, his lines took a few weeks to gel, and he’s one of the greatest OLine coaches of all time. I remember Brady getting sacked early in seasons until Dante found the right combination.

Looks like more than a bum toe.

Schelfer strikes again.

Fake account. There was a thread on this already they deleted it.

It wasn’t just a sex scandal…it was a super weird one involving a coach, three ways, etc.

Icky

Other than accounting for injuries everything in the first week of practice is scripted and planned out to accomplish pre-planned objectives and identifying training needs. Even players like Barmore slowly ramped up. There will be nothing other than next man up changed in the training plan this week.

I have had this thought 10x this morning reading the first 2 days posts.

But these draft picks from the prior 2 years, especially the OL, wow... I really have to wonder what is going on.

Polk, Caeden Wallace, Sidy Sow, Layden Robinson... This is malpractice.

Especially the OL. Sow I can't complain about given where he's picked. But you gotta do better landing Wallace in the 60s and Robinson in the 4th.

It's a shame that none of the 3 are working out for us.

Biggest reach was Layden Robinson. He MIGHT end up as a journeyman Guard, but it was such a waste of a pick..

I expect Sow to bounce back this year and be the 1st guy off the bench at Guard.
