Sidy Sow

My understanding is that Sidy Sow was the backup RT at the end of last year. Why wasn't it Wallace? the 2024 team drafted Robinson and Wallace and pushed Robinson into the starting lineup, but not Wallace. I am sure Wallace has a clean slate this year like everyone else, but we might see Wallace at OG based on indications from 2024. Onwenu might be in his last year.
last year, after returning from a broken leg, Wallace played 15 snaps game 16 and 44 snaps game 17 at OT.
last year, games 13, 14 and 15, Sow played 3, 1, and 0 snaps respectively. games 16 and 17, Sidy did not play

I think it is a stretch to say Sidy was in the plans for the OL last year

Could be. Clearly Wolf and Mayo were trying to play the guys they drafted, some might say were forcing their draft picks into playing situations. Polk, Robinson, and Wallace fit that description. So I am skeptical of any playing time decisions made last year related to the 2024 draft class.

Polk, Baker, Wallace, and Robinson have a clean slate and Vrabel and crew are not biased. Marrone is a staright shooter. We will see where it ends up. I doubt, but could be wrong, that Wallce will end up at RT, even as a backup.

Some posters are high on Bell. Bell was a disaster, he had no idea where to line up. In J McD's offense that deficiency will only get worse. I predict that Bell, Baker, and Robinson are released, maybe Wallace too. They will all be available for the practice squad as no other team will want them.

I haven't been following, but are they on many rosters? Wallace, for sure, and we'll see how he is.

Bell and Baker are seemingly on the other side of the bubble, and Robinson is fighting against a group of not so bad backups.

I think Robinson is this year's Mafi. Cut after maybe showing a little promise.

Jared Wilson is a 21 yr old (OK, he turned 22 yesterday) who had only one year of starting in college, and that was at center.

It would be a miracle for this young kid to play guard.
I agree. At least not OG (especially LG as a Rookie). However, I think he was drafted to be the Center of the future. And, if he really puts it together in Camp/Pre-Season, he becomes at the very least a really feel good about backup to Bradbury, and might even end up starting at some point in the Regular Season even if Bradbury isn't injured (unless Bradbury has a "Bounce Back" Year). Perhaps he becomes one of those OL Players that will excel as a Center 1st, and a LG 2nd. Great for depth purposes.

Sidy Sow is best suited at LG. Let him compete with Strange and Tyrese Robinson. His athleticism is better suited to the left side.

Last year was bad for the Quebec-raised player from Ypsilanti-strong Eastern Michigan where he started one year at LT and four years at LG. In 2024 he suffered a serious ankle sprain, but ended the year as a healthy scratch. What the…?

Behind the scenes people may know the story. None of us do.

But holdover assistant OL coach, Robert Kugler, could fill us in. Scott Peters is gone, the guy who talked too much, used MMA stuff, and got into the weeds about where to strike with the hands. Not a fan. Didn’t the great Dante follow KISS?

Now the Patriots have Doug Marrone. He’s a former head coach who earned his chops as an OL coach. He’s a gem. It’s been five years since I’ve felt we had superior OL coaching.

So how’s this year going to turn out, Monsieur?

The kid has struggled in the run game. Shown promise in pass blocking. He has the size, length, and athleticism to be more than a backup if this year can be the bounce-back year. He is due.

I like this player. Good guy. Balding, speaks French, and is a good teammate. What’s not to like? Bon courage et bonne chance, Sidy!
oh my god, you people still exist.

I understood Wilson saw some action as a reserve in college in about 20 games at LG. his Jr year he became the teams starting OC.
athletic and cerebral, he needs to get stronger to play OC in the nfl.

For evaluating Sow and Strange, we shouldn’t forget the absolutely ridiculous situation they’ve been in with the OL coaching. IIRC this will be the fifth straight season with a new OL coach and new OC. I don’t know how we can be sure about any of them until the coaching is improved. More specifically regarding Sow I thought he was decent his rookie year but Peters and his yes man failed to develop Sow just as they failed to develop a single other lineman last year, and clearly favored Robinson who had no business whatsoever playing LG.

I would hazard a guess that the week 4 broken fibula / high ankle sprain had something to do with it...
Wow. I thought it was just a ankle didn't know it was a fibula too!

They’re going to want a backup center/guard on the bench who is being developed as the center of the future. Bradbury is good but he’s a short term answer and a great guy for Wilson to learn under. I loved the Wilson pick but he’s a rookie and needs to get stronger, a year watching is probably the best thing for him and the team.

Nobody should use last year’s clown show staff as a barometer for anything. In fact this years staff should probably do the opposite of last years.

Siddy Sow Sow like almost everyone else regressed under you know. Doug Marrone have been very quiet so no news is good news I guess.

while agree with the entire commentary about OL coaching, Sow in his rookie season arguably did not have an OL coach, and did fine for a rookie. in addition, Robinson played 11 games last year. his first 4 were rocky and he sat down. his last 4 or 5 games he looked much better. he also went 100% of the offensive snaps in 9 games. not a bad year 1 for a rookie 4th rd pick.
my assumption scheme, moving pocket, better run game, will be enough to make the OL look better.

We need a long term C someone who's going to grow with Drake. Hes Bradbury like Moses are here for now short term vets to help with the culture. By next season Wilson should be ready to take over as C. Runner up is also Benny brown who's young as well and could really stand to benefit from good coaching.

Douglas Marrone expertise is OL so I like that.. not like YMCA volunteer coaching staff Wolf put together.

As of said plentiful only came out of last season was Drake. Look how many former HCs and former coordinators we have on this years staff. We are loaded. Vrabel not standing for any type of BS staff like last season. When hiring them..Wolf probably called them and said hey remember that favor you owe me...
