Well i am sad he is hurt, but no need to panic about anything... he was a borderline 53 guy anyway... may have been cut for all we know. Worse comes to worse he misses the year. But maybe they put him on IR and he comes back.

Right now Mapu could be the 4th MLB. He fits better there in this defense anyway.

Feel pretty good regardless with Spillane, Elliss and Gibbens on the inside.

Speaking of Elliss, thought did well out there and came into his own last year. Not necessarily rangy, but he seemed to usually put himself in great position and not get caught in the wash too often like we’ve seen with Bentley, Tavai, etc in recent years.

Bentley allegedly wasn't a fit in Vrabel/Williams scheme, so out for respect for him he was released early to try to latch on with another team. Obviously not news to anyone here. So If anything I can see gibbens being given a shot next to Spillane.. I hear gibbens is a thumper..

Bentley was released with a "Failed Physical" designation. Just like Dave Andrews. That's why he hasn't latched on with anyone else.

It could be anything from a Torn ACL to just a knee sprain. Remember that Brady walked off the field against KC after his knee injury.

FWIW, I like Tavai and hope he plays for us this year. I like his wild dog style, which does have its its ups and downs.I think, or choose to believe, that he was defending the coaching staff in his "remarks" about the fans. I give him a pass on it.

Tavai is fine. Not a budding All-Pro but is a decent player.

I think the issue most fans have with him is more about what comes out of his pie hole than his play on the field.

That's good to know. Tavai is a solid player, he's been here, he has played at a high level before. He definitely helps the depth. Also i'm sure he knows competition is heavy under Vrabel.

How could Bentley not be a fit but slow lumbering Tavai is??????? Bentley is a better athlete than Tavai and was a good captain. I dont see anything on the field that would make me want Tavai over B.

They were identical in the short shuttle at 4.40
Tavai had a 4in taller Vertical at 33.5 compared to 29.5 for Bentley.

Their broad jump are identical

Claiming that Bentley was a better athlete isn't born out by anything that you've offered.

Apparently it is a calf injury that will sideline him till camp. Basically a precursor to a torn achilles.
