Every year we always overvalue the 4th or 5th WR, who barely has any impact on games. I'm looking forward to a pitched battle and getting rid of the chaff.

I’ll take it a step further, I think Chism will end up becoming their starting slot receiver, putting Pop on the bench.

The only reason I think he might make the team is his contract. It was an indication that the team was really high on him and that there was competition with other teams that wanted him.
But apparently not enough to want him more than Mr. Irrelevant.

Could Drake be the next....

Honestly I’d be far happier with an Uncle Rico than if he ends up looking like Emin…I mean Joe Burrow…

I think that is entirely possible.

Last season there appeared to be occasions where Drake and Pop were not on the same page, including a game ending interception.

That needs to change.

Why can’t the NFL let teams have 1-2 more roster spots?
I said it before and I’ll say it again, there should be 3 “Special Teams Only” roster spots for the PK, P and LS, in an addition to the 53. Would solve some issues for sure.

I think IF K Boutte walks on water this Upcoming season: some Patsfans will see and still not believe. Newsflash Boutte hasn't reached his WR ceiling... most are sleeping on a poor man's Ja'marr Chase jr.

Unless there's an injury, 95% of the WR passes will be to Diggs, Williams, and Douglas. So regardless of how much ceiling the other guys have, they won't get a chance to show it. They'll be counting on an injury happening, or else they spend their careers on inactive lists.

I have it as:

These 4: Diggs. Douglas. Williams. Boutte.
Plus one of these: Hollins. Bourne.
Plus one of these: Polk. Baker. Chism.

Of course that's if everyone somehow makes it to the end of preseason healthy and ready for week 1.

With Diggs, Douglas, Williams, and Hollins (ST excellence) active for games, unless there's an injury.

And Hollins for blocking, ST excellence, and a tall jump ball guy on the outside. Posters don't seem to grasp Josh leverages mismatches which Hollins' height will represent based on the opponent.

The #5 and possible #6 WR would never be active unless there is an injury.

The question is who do you want being active for the next game when a receiver is injured?
1) If Diggs is injured?
2) If Williams is injured?
3) If Pop is injured?
4) If Hollins is injured?
5) Who among the rest can be valuable as a reasonable replacement for the first three. IMO, Hollins would be replaced by a TE, RB or FB in his role as ST blocker.
6) After putting the best replacement on the 53, do we need a 6th? As we all know, the 6th is very unlikely to get very many reps, even with two injuries.
7) As an aside, we often keep development players on the 53, not expecting them to ever be active. Is anyone worth keeping in this role?

BOURNE
BOUTTE
POLK
BAKER
CHISM

Absent injury, I don't think that we will know much until we see them play in the scrimmages with other teams. Personally, I'd keep Bourne until then. I'd really likely to see him here if Diggs or Williams isn't playing at 100% to start or early in the season.

Disagree completely. Chism3 is going to get his chances, and he’s going to end up being one of the 3 starting receivers by midseason, if not sooner.

I don't think they brought Hollins in with the idea that they're going to get rid of him after camp. I think Boutte, Bourne, Baker and Polk not only have to beat him, have to beat him badly, in order to win a roster spot.

Wow. If I were a betting man, I'd make a fortune on fan early training camp infatuations.

I have pounded the drum for a while that he's on the 53. I have it as Diggs, Williams, Pop, Boutte, Hollins and TBA. I think Bourne, Baker, Polk, and Chism are fighting for that last spot. If any of them can play STs, they'll have the edge. Chism had a good day here in the last couple, not sure which, with like 7 catches. That certainly gives him an edge on June 4th, but it's a long way to opening day. It's going to come down who can do something else and earn the spot that way.

Efton is getting reps in OTA's is not a sign of confidence in him by the coaching staff. It is a sign of curiosity. We've no evidence about how that curiosity is being fulfilled.

He was passed on by NFL teams over 200 times in the draft, with 30 WR's taken. He wasn't taken. Everything he's doing in OTA's was apparent in his game tape.

Local sports media talks about how many catches guys are making in OTA's because they need to manufacture relevant information, when there isn't any really (except injuries and injury recoveries).

Bourne is a Superior WR to 300yds and and cloud of dust Mack Hollins. Bourne is going click with Diggs on the other side; Bourne hasn't played with a WR Diggs good during his time here.
