Some are saying Diggs Starts the Season on PUP I don't see it. I don't see any lingering effects of an ACL injury there. That said I think K Boutte is going shock the Patriots world; he may be much better than regarded.

Starting on PUP is a conservative, prudent approach. If he's deemed good for week 1 so be it. Keep in mind once he really starts going close to 100% in camp while his knee may be structurally sound and strong, he could still experience swelling, soreness, etc. which is natural. He might need a scope to clean out stuff. Tough to predict.

Wouldn't be a shock at all. Boutte has a good shot at making the team. He's way ahead of Baker and also ahead of Polk.

locks. It's early but Boutte and Chism beat out Polk and Baker right now. If Polk really shows big improvement, he's got a chance.
But Baker has NO chance. None. Zippo. Nada. Nil.

Yeah... I haven't heard 1 bad thing about Efton.... I think he may have got a real steal here. The guy of guy who can be our slot option for 10 years kind of steal.

This is how I see it as well. Diggs, Williams, Hollins, Douglas, Boutte, Chism 3. Four new receivers, a very different WR room than last year. Hallelujah!

I’d be shocked if Chism makes the team. Diggs and Polk would have to start the season on PUP. As much as I would love for Chism to make the team, we’ve seen this movie before. Remember Austin Carr, he was the Chism of 2017. Actually had a great camp and preseason, then was cut.

BOTTOM LINE
The CB situation is an accident waiting to happen, a potential issue which is foreseeable, and can be planned for.

There are very few posters who think that we need help at CB. There is you, patchick, me and whoever wants to say that this is the case for them.

If all the CB are healthy for the whole year, we are fine with Austin as our backup both inside and out. But that isn't the history of our top 4 CB's. It is very likely that at least one or two will be injured at various time during the year.

SOME here seem just fine depending on Bolden or Dial, or one of the scrubs, being coached by folks who are likely not as good as last year's coaches.

Personally, I would want us to sign lots of help at CB, to compete with Austin for reps as #4 and other(s) to compete for the #5 and/or #6 roster spot. I have a guess at who will get many more meaningful reps than Bolden, Dial and all the scrubs.

I can only hope that Vrabel will get help between now and the trade deadline. ONE injury and we're screwed. Two injuries and one of our safeties will be playing corner. Vrabel has a secret plan. We just don't know what it is.

I have also posted about the CB's
health obviously. I have also questioned Marcus Jones. wouldn't surprise me if Austen gets snaps ahead of him in the slot as a big slot CB. I also think we see 3 safeties on the field a lot.

there are also quite a few still available in free agency

We also pick 4th on the waiver wire for the first 4 weeks of this season. Let's hope that status is put to better use than it was throughout last season.
