I don't think he'd make it to the practice squad. There was too much competition to sign him after the draft.

It's hard to get excited about guys like Chism. There is a REASON why 32 passed on the kid SEVEN times. Try and keep the hype in reason folks.

The other day when I was looking at a list of available FA's. I happened to see a familiar name of a kid who had a similar hype and then went on to have some limited ACTUAL success on the field and managed to make an NFL roster every year since 2019. Remember Gunner Olszweski. He is out there as a FA and is likely a better WR/PR prospect than Chism, if only because of his experience and overall athleticism.

BTW- who is currently getting PR reps during these OTA's. Is Chism one of them? In the end guys like Chism and Gunner make the team because they can take ST's teams reps. Gunner was a star DB in college, so you could justify as spot as an emergency DB in a pinch. Chism got any of that position flexibility in him? The more you do ...

So if you HAD to pick one to make the team right now. Who would you pick Chism or Gunner?

Chism. He’s a pure receiver in the mold of Welker and Edelman. He knows how to get open instantly, and he would be of great utility against teams with a great pass rush. Oslewski never had the ability to get open immediately, he was more of a guy who could run some slant and return some kicks. And Chism is a very good special teams player. I’m hoping he makes the 53.

I would think a player will not make the team because he is a PR'er only, which imo, is what Gunner has been.
sure, in a blowout, put him at WR. in a real pinch, put him at db.
Marcus, Pop. maybe Chism, Larison, Bolden. need to make the team as positional players, who also return punts well.

My point is that he has the playing style of Welker and Edelman, a slot that can get open in 2 seconds, not that he is those players. I want Maye to have that safety valve for the times when they face a dominant pass rush.

C'mon. Julien Edleman was a seventh rounder. Wes Welker was undrafted. Jacobi Meyers was undrafted. Danny Amendola was undrafted.
