Oh I definitely get it.. there's really nothing else going on but OTAs, so I get that it's a story.., and coach said today that OTAs is optional, and that he has been in touch with stef, and we have to conduct ourselves on/off the field..Stef is a vet he knows how to conduct himself off the field.

Lost in this brouhaha is - Are OTAs mandatory? No, they are not.

Then he doesn't need to be "excused".

Would we like it if he was there? yes. but he is not required to be there.

He is not "required" to be there (quote marks courtesy of Vrabel). There are rules and then what is implied, as Vrabel intimated shortly after being hired regarding voluntary vs. mandatory offseason work. Being "excused" could involve Diggs' injury rehab and not being ready for this week's specific OTA drills.

This likely will be Diggs' last big contract and he is expected to assume a leadership role in the WR room. That can't be accomplished on a party boat in Miami. He already appears to be pushing the boundary, especially with the illicit drug question. We'll see.
