yes, I know on both counts
he was an all pro as a return man, not as a CB. his approximate value metric was 10 that season. he missed season 2. season 3, his approximate value metric was 3.
he has disappointed as a CB.
not sure the Pats will pay a return man big money, that is maybe a part time CB

Over his entire career Jon Jones never once made an All Pro or Pro Bowl team as a CB. It’s not because he wasn’t deserving, but because the voting system doesn’t differentiate between boundary and slot CB’s.

Marcus Jones was a great return man, league best, and he was really good in the slot and improving.

He needs a contract and to prove he is durable enough, if they move on from him it will due to these factors… not because he isn’t good enough.

Despite where he was drafted, there’s no doubt Bell is talented. Though he’s small for a TE, he’s got speed for someone at 240 pounds (4.61 forty). He’s also versatile, he was used as a RB on some plays and had rushing TDs in college.

That being said, it’s up to the player, he has talent, does he have the heart and determination to be a good NFL player. I say that about every draftee, the talent is there, can they push themselves to do the things that make great players great. The Bradys and Edelmans of the world show you it doesn’t matter where you’re drafted.

Well that's an interesting way to look at it but if Henry and Hooper are healthy I would expect the FB to get more snaps than TE3.

I see bell as a full back H-back, not as a tight end. I am hoping the kid from Bama shows enough to take that role.

So one is the best lead blocker in college football, and the other is “ wildly inconsistent when asked to make blocks on the move in space.”

I’ll take the best lead blocker in college football over the guy who “ lacks instincts and is !wildly inconsistent when asked to make lead blocks in space.”

Fine, I just dont see how having a guy that doesn't touch the ball in the game as worth one of the 45 game day spots. I just dont see that value.

The Patriots played poorly last year, Marcus Jones is a very good player.

Lampe is a stiff. He'd better be a blocking prodigy.

Agreed, I think the FB position comes down to Bell or this Gee Scott kid. At least they're good athletes.

From everything I have read and heard that the perfect role for him. He’s a classic fullback, an exceptional lead blocker and pass protector.
If they put Henderson and Lampe in the backfield Maye should have plenty of time to get the ball downfield.

Henderson has the speed to not only get outside, but if he gets 1 block he could be gone.

I can’t wait see Henderson in a Patriots uniform. It’s been years and years since they have had a back like him. While I like the comparison to James White as a receiver White never had the explosiveness Henderson has, and he was never the running back Henderson is.

Bell played the 8th most special teams snaps on the team.

Lampe played in the MAC, Bell and Scott played in the SEC… Lampe has a big uphill climb as an UDFA.

Beau Allen was a good player who suffered a career ending injury. Let us know who is going to suffer a career ending injury this season so we can be sure not to rely on him?
