You could be right. I am not sure about Bryant. If Bryant can be a LT backup, and Wallace can be a RT backup (Wallace was poor last year at LT even though someone not to be mentioned assured us that Wallace could switch to LT), then we have the tackle backups. Moses is older and has not played a full season in awhile so we need a RT backup (Wallace) urgently.

I agree, and I don’t care who wins out. The statement about Bryant was just based off the pre draft rumors, and the possibility of Membou moving to left tackle. I just hope they can replace Lowe.

My daughter and granddaughter have Type 1 diabetes
It is not a problem playing sports
Many athletes have it
Justin Fields and Vince Wilfork are 2 off the top of my head
Brown probably got undrafted because he got kicked off Wisconsin’s team
My guess is he is a hothead
I agree. But not every Type I is the same. The Type I monitoring and microdosing systems these days are much improved as well.

Being a hot head and an offensive tackle in not necessarily a bad thing . For example, @PatsFan2 is a really nice guy and I suspect he would be a lousy offensive tackle.

Let's hope they have replaced Jacobs, and will replace Lowe. Our OL the last 2 years has been atrocious.

Off topic, but I was excited to learn from Vrabel's presser today that the Pats will be doing joint practices with the Commanders in Foxboro and traveling to MN for joint practices with the Vikings. Two super talented teams should present the opportunity for great reps/coaching opportunities/etc.
I heard Commanders coach Dan Quinn on NFL radio yesterday talking about it, he’s been planning what they will be doing with Vrabes, he called him that a few times.

Most or all backup LT’s in the NFL are at Lowe’s level. I’ll take that. Jacobs will be out of the league in a couple years if he doesn’t improve though. Last year was the 1st time playing in the NFL…we didn’t have anyone else I guess.

Will be fun to see Daniels up close

I wouldn’t worry about Onwenu’s weight until he shows up to camp fat. If he was portly in OTA’s, I don’t think Vrabel would hesitate to say something to him. Regardless, good shape or not… he is the heaviest guy on the entire team.

OTA’s is also the time to make mistakes, Drake Maye’s interceptions on day one of OTA’s in a brand new offensive scheme is a big nothing burger. If he’s still throwing picks in week one it’s a problem.

Did I read someone say the Pats could trade Vederian Lowe and get Judon type compensation… somebody please tell me that was satire.

Assuming health and a reasonably successful Will Campbell, that’s a great starting five offensive line with some good depth behind it.

I envision Baler making the team more than Polk.
I’m sure Vrabel and training staff will give him a set weight to show up at the beginning of training camp if Bedard is right about his weight.

Patsfan2 is a good guy but his cousin is a Ahole (RayRay)
All Type 1 is the same. Your pancreas has shut down and needs injections of insulin. Some people control it better than others. But yes the Omni pod monitoring system is awesome. The insulin pump makes life much easier and takes the guessing out of everything
Type 2 is different. Some people’s pancreas is working better than others with Type 2. So some take a pill others take insulin
Type 1 is Juvenile Diabetes. Type 2 is later in life called Onset

Let's hope Bryant is above Lowe's level. Lowe was a 6th round pick, Bryant a 7th rounder. Hopefully Bryant works out better.

I’m typically pretty even keeled and am all about message board freedom, but you need to get a fu*king grip. It’s getting annoying as fu*k.
Better get use to it because Maye could have five touchdowns, no picks and two wins in the first two games, then when he throws his first pick in game 3 Sam will be saying they should’ve kept Milton. Which we all know is impossible because Milton will be leading the Cowboys to the Superbowl.

I am not a Dr., but all Type I diabete progressions are not the same. For example,

Type 1 diabetes can appear at any age, but it's more common in childhood and adolescence. However, the age at which someone is diagnosed can affect the severity and progression of the disease. For example, toddlers with type 1 diabetes might be sicker and more likely to experience diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) than school-aged children or adults.
Some individuals, especially those diagnosed later in life, may have a "honeymoon period" where they need less or no insulin for a while after diagnosis. This is because the body may still produce some insulin, but eventually, this production will decline.

Yes that’s true
When you are diagnosed with Type1 you need hardly any insulin. The honeymoon period
Your pancreas slowly is shutting down and eventually shuts down
How you take care of it and exercise makes it easier to live with
If you don’t take care of it. Then you suffer
I’m also no doctor but lived with my daughter having it since 3 years old. Now my granddaughter has it
Light years ahead on technology
I have taking many training courses at Joslin. They are great and the best training hospital around
Sorry for the rant. It helps people understand diabetes.

Cut Boutte right now! the guys gets' no respect from some here.
Funny how Maye going 7/8 in the second session hasn’t been mentioned much here or by the local media. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Herald suspended Callahan for releasing that information.

I don't know man....I don't think $7.7M is a lot. The Pats have around $40M of cap space including what the rookies will take.
But he just isn't worth it. And just because they can afford the contract doesn't make it a good idea. And the Pats are actually projected to be over the cap in 2026 once you factor in the rookie contracts (or maybe just at the line... it will be close). They will be depending on the cap carry over from this year for relief as well as needing to trim dead weight in the cap that year.

They will be losing a lot of important free agents next year and will need to sign some guys to replace them or to up contracts. Not to mention they will probably want to do the Gonzo extension a year early. That will take a lot of money. Never pay a bad contract if you don't have to. What is the real difference between Bourne and Boutte at this point? 1% maybe for an extra 5M? It just isn't worth it and we are talking about the 6th option on the roster from an overall weapon perspective.

Personally i want them to be in position to sign good players in 2026 and freeing up that cash will help them do that. The Pats have enough questionable contracts on the books without having more. After all, in the end the NFL is a resource management game. Every team has the same resources, and the teams that use them the best tend to win more.

That's a good way to put it. A lot of cap is crap talk and this doesn't deny that but also points out that just because you can play games to message the cap doesn't make it the best way. Got to be smart with it.

I see your point. What if Diggs isn’t ready? Boutte gets injured? We are relying on a rookie and Hollins at that point on the outside. To me…7.7m is worth it for 2025.

Orr…maybe he was 40 lbs overweight?

He's listed at 350, and in high school and college he played in the 360 range.

Warinner said Onwenu’s playing weight was in the 360-pound range with the Wolverines. And while that seems a bit too hefty to maintain effectiveness, it worked just fine for the mountainous man in college.

“He’s a house. The weight is not coming over the belt buckle,” said Davis. “The weight is the bottom part, his backside and thighs. That’s a lot of young man. So I’m eager to see how he develops.”

Warinner admitted to having questions about Onwenu’s weight when he took over as the line coach at Michigan two years ago. So he made sure to have the lineman’s body fat and mass measured.

The result?

It was determined that Onwenu was just fine playing at 360 or a few pounds over.

He apparently has a $500k weight/workout clause in his contract. Onwenu said last year that his weight had stayed in the 350 range contrary to reports from Lombardi that he had gained a bunch of weight.
