Thought I'd create one topic for them all instead of having several topics

Tush push ban being discussed right now per Dianna Russini. Proposed by GB.

One whole yard... game changer

The whole point of the onside kick is to surprise the other team, unless of course it's that last possession thing and teams know it's coming. They've effectively ruined this play.

Feels like the playoff reseeding proposal was a league trial balloon to gauge reaction rather than something the Lions really wanted. The league probably told them to take it off the table for now.

Tush push survives.

Apparently the Pats were one of the 10 teams who voted to keep the tush push. Needed 24 votes to ban it, there were actually 22 votes to ban it.
Tush push remains legal, ban on pushing ball carriers fails
Ravens, Patriots, Jets and Lions among teams that voted against tush push ban

Me, I have a lot of respect for the Patriots position. Bill Polian got pissed the Pats DBs beat up the Colts WR during the 2003 AFC CG, so he led the “point of emphasis” movement instead of changing his team to offset the Pats strengths. Vrabel’s basically said we’re not banning a play just because we can’t stop it. Shows a lot of consistency with their position back then.

Very pleased that we didn't join the NFL softball teams who want to punish success. This franchise remembers how we were treated when we were winning.

Patriots voted against changing the tush push rule. They probably did so for no other reason than to give an F U to Goodell and Vincent, who really wanted it to pass.

And the Bills are the only team in the division to vote yes to a ban.. even though they use the play.

Can you see the old rich men in a room going back and forth over a stinking yard? Having to announce an onside kick really kills what it’s supposed to do….surprise the enemy so the ball can be recovered by your team….

Why the hell did Kraft not oppose the tush push. Just dumb.
Totally unfair for defense and huge advantage for eagles,

Unfair play for the defense.
Karma will be if Eagles player gets seriously injured.

Tom Brady had a higher conversion rate for his career with runs on 3rd or 4th and 1 than the Eagles do with the tush push.

How pissed off would you have been if a rule passed when Brady was here banning QB sneaks on plays with 1 yard to go?

I can’t wait till this sequence happens again and the refs really do award a score. Then imagine if this scenario happens in OT in a playoff game.

Also didn’t realize that the defense playing defense is “unsportsmanlike conduct”. Huh

TBF Sebastian Vollmer did an early version of it on Brian Hoyer in 2009 against the Titans.

They weren't simply "playing defense" they were committing a penalty. Multiple consecutive instances of the same penalty is unsportsmanlike conduct.

I think that’s only if they were all intentional. Not easy to judge.

Tush push is absurd and should be banned. Kraft was helping his buddy Lurie win another Super Bowl.
