Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Totally, and zero reason the Cs can't beat this crap tastic Knicks team. None whatsoever.
I thought they were out tonight mostly due to momentum, an emotional low, etc, but the facts are:

-Celtics are a 60-65 win team with Tatum. A superstar is worth about 10 wins as a rule of thumb. Celtics are still as good, or better, than the Knicks, without Tatum.

-Celtics were 10-2 without Tatum this season

Not saying they will win the series. Winning 3 straight is a tall task for anyone, but they were favored by 5.5 tonight and are only 3 pt underdogs at MSG in G6.

This wouldn’t be some astronomical upset. They’re capable of doing it, especially since the big postseason trend this year is underdogs being written off and then hammering favorites.

Good energy so far. Way too many BS calls

I heard you screaming through my TV. Never would've guessed your voice is that high.

Center court? How did you get those seats?

Pacers and Timberwolves return to conference finals to avenge their losses last year, hungry for other lesser teams to limp in to face them.

Just the narrative that everyone saw coming

Glad you went to the game and enjoyed yourself. My experiences as a fan going to the game I seem to never get the same excitement as I did watching on tv.. same for patriots games.. good gutsy win for the guys.

I get a lot more into games when i'm there live.

Crowd energy, part of the action (kind of), etc. Plus i've had a few beers and I usually don't drink much during the week so it's a treat if you will.

Less one-on-one iso-ball last night without Tatum......27 assists
In the 3 losses.......18, 17, & 15 assists for C's.
Addition by subtraction. I wish JT and Mazz would take a lesson from that.

Below are Tatum's passing stats for 2024 and 2025. Keep in mind he improved on his assists per game from 4.9 to 6.0 and he passed more more

JT 2024
JT 2025

If we are looking purely at the numbers, when it comes to giving up the rock JT is not the problem. I looked up JB and it was pretty much the same for him. They both passed more this year than last year.

TBH I think the guy they need to take a serious look at is Holliday. Unselfish. Plus defender but his passing numbers were down this year as was his overall efficiency shooting the ball. Ironically, that was across the board for all offensive players.

If they are looking to "blow it up" and as part of that plan is to move Holliday, they would be best served by acquiring a facilitator who doesn't need to shoot 18 times a game and get the ball to players like the Jays in better position to score and be more efficient in their shot taking.

I'm still going to the game tonight. They certainly can win. They've gotta stop with blowing leads!
Mission accomplished.

Now a question. Does anyone know why the Celtics play better without Tatum?

I don't think the stats tell the whole story. The eye test says the passing vanishes in the last 5-10 minutes of the game. So, much more passing early in the game thus building the above cited stats then reversion to norm in crunch time to blow the lead built up by virtue of the earlier passing.

Def more iso late in games but I think it's more of the quality of the passes then the quantity.

Could that facilitator be Pritchard? He's got the best handle on the team, a good outside shooter, but gets blocked a lot inside due to his (lack of) height.

KP shouldn’t see another minute this series. I’d rather see Queta spell Kornet.

I don't know if hes has the passing skills needed. Plus I think they need his scoring.

I'm thinking Josh Giddy

So JT's surgery was performed in NYC. He was lucky the injury occurred in NYC and one of the top orthopedic surgeons was available at one of the top orthopedic hospitals.
