Because Jerruh is routinely even dumber about extensions than the 49ers are with Purdy.

Maybe it wasn’t about the money to himThere were reports Notre Dame made him an offer in the realm of $6 to $8 million. Instead he’s got himself a non-guaranteed 4 years, $4 million deal.
It’s baffling.
Dak has not only wrecked the QB market once, but twice now. How in the world is he the highest paid in the NFL per year AGAIN? There’s something seriously wrong with him when the playoffs roll around.
Meanwhile, the 49ers are doing what they do best and letting another extension drag out in Brock Purdy who is willing to take a rumored $54M annually. The 49ers are really playing with fire on this one. If he wins a couple more playoff games this season, his value will sky rocket and easily surpass Prescott. On the other hand, if he has a season like last year, then the 9ers regain all the leverage.
More money than he’d make in the NFL?
If the Saints hold a special place in his and his family’s heart, the cards may not unfold this way again.
McDaniels saw this and knew about this; it was obvious at the Raiders
They have the leverage for now as last year was certainly a bad look for Purdy. When he didn't have his usual All Pro supporting cast surrounding him, he folded like a lawn chair in big game moments. While his stats look decent, there were 5-6 winnable games he kept choking away. I don't see him having a bounce back year unless Aiyuk recovers (which I also don't see happening) and Ricky Pearsall takes his game to another level. McCaffrey and Kittle are a year older and at least one of them could hit the cliff this season. Their OL has been mediocre since Shanahan's arrival and the media has speculated Trent Williams could retire.I think last year gave them their leverage. I wouldn’t pay Purdy anything more than what Baker Mayfield got. He’s an average QB who apparently believes he’s Patrick Mahomes. The bottom line for me is that I don’t believe Purdy is a franchise QB, and I wouldn’t pay him like one. I think Mayfield is middle of the road and I don’t believe Purdy is even as good as he is. I think he’s in the Geno Smith, Sam Darnold category. And if he was the Patriots quarterback I would trade him for Mac Jones and go hard for the Arch Manning pick.

Carr was the 17th highest paid player (career earnings) in NFL history for going 77-92 and making the playoffs once and going 1 and done.
Most overpaid player in history?
The Saints have been working towards Arch since he was in high school
Which is crazy because he’s really not that great of a prospect when you look into it. If his last name wasn’t manning would anyone really think he’s worth #1, especially tanking for him. I’d say he’ll no.
Anyone who looks into it would see a tremendous prospect and someone more than worthy of being selected #1 overall.Which is crazy because he’s really not that great of a prospect when you look into it.
I used to think that way.If his last name wasn’t manning would anyone really think he’s worth #1, especially tanking for him. I’d say he’ll no.
Cousins had a winning record at least got his team to the playoffs 3 times and won a playoff game.No one even comes close to Kurk Cousins in this regards IMO.

I guess im looking at the Carr as literally being a detriment to his teams while being the highest paid player. Cousins was paid more but accomplished more too b
Saying Arch isn’t a top prospect is absolute asinine Pats homer drivel
Kirk had to suffer in Washington for 6 years before he ever got a say in his own career. He was fortunate enough to have a huge contract offered him after the franchise year.David Carr career earnings 84 million
Kirk Cousins career Earnings 338 million
At the end of the day, they basically have the same to show for in their participation trophy rooms. Kirk literally played the NFL like a fiddle. Most of his **** was guaranteed. Good for him. No hate. Masterclass in luck and business.
He got tagged two times in a row in WA, then got a huge guarante contract in Minnesota, despite doing little in WA. Pretty sure if you asked any of those GM’s if they’d do it again, the response would be “He’ll no”Kirk had to suffer in Washington for 6 years before he ever got a say in his own career. He was fortunate enough to have a huge contract offered him after the franchise year.
Carr should’ve left Oakland as soon as he could.
Maye would have gone 1st overall this year over Ward. If Arch at this point is Maye level as a prospect, that’s pretty damn good.I’m not saying he’s not good. I just don’t think he’s an elite prospect in the group of a “suck for luck” or “tank for Trevor”, or even a “Tank for Tua” level of successful/ high upside prospect. At the end of the day, if you follow Texas football he didn’t win out the starting job this year, despite what his familys media connections might want you to believe, simply because he wasn’t better then ewers. A QB who just went in the 7th round. So I guess if you think he’ll grow exponentially this coming season, then that’s fair. If you were an owner/GM/coach, would you really risk tanking in hoping he’s your savor?
If anything he’s a Maye level prospect at this point, and nobody was betting the farm on hopes of landing Maye.
Those numbers are not correct.David Carr career earnings 84 million
Kirk Cousins career Earnings 338 million

if they had any interest in the kid, they would have traded for him regardless. He went for basically nothingWish he retired before we traded Milton... cest la vie
