Looks like the Steelers are shipping Pickens off to Dallas for a 3rd round pick. I know a lot of folks here love Pickens but Tomlin and the Steelers, even though their WR situation is dire, thought that he was not worth the trouble.

He's a FA after this year and will want a lot of money which I don't think Dallas can afford (they've yet to give Parsons an extension).

I'd say a 3rd is too high for a guy you'll have difficulty signing.

On the other hand, he may have a great season in a contract year with a much better QB in Prescott throwing to him than whatever the Steelers had, a better offense in general. and some serious player taking attention away from him at WR

We'll see.

Sad to see such a special young man leaving the Squealers. At least he's going to Jerruh's locker, can't think of many other places I'd wish him to shape the culture . I'm sure he'll inspire teammates like an extra cheerleader.

Kind of dumb for both sides but I also see the point for each too.

Does Dallas really need another diva receiver because that's worked out so good for them? Do they also need another guy looking to get paid? But Dak's window may already be closed because he doesn't seem to stay healthy but if he can stay healthy this could be an interesting offense.

For Pitt they get something for someone they weren't re-signing but if they do get Rodgers then keeping him even just for the year probably made sense.

How's the saying go? A deal is good if both sides are dissatisfied.

He is going to get paid top of the market money in a long term deal. And frankly he is not the guy you do that with. Nothing about him screams top 15 WR, let alone top 10. But he will get paid just about as much as those guys. Someone will pay it, but it will be a bad contract.

slim Pickens

Yeah, that's a big tell. Tomlin usually can handle challenging players. This guy he sent packing.

A third is a pick you have difficulty hitting on, so if you think you're going to sign the beast you send the third.

The link below suggests the odds are 3:1 against picking a WR that will be a starter for you in the third round. Starter, not necessarily stud.

But as above PIT was happy to take a draft pick they know is not likely to hit back for him, so you better really see yourself trying to sign this guy if you make the move.

I mean, if nothing else, you can use the franchise tag as a bit of leverage, even though the tag is super expensive.

I suspect Pickens may not get 'top of the market money in a long term deal' except on paper. He's been on the market the entire off season and a low 3rd was the best ****sburgh could do, indicating teams weren't chomping at the bit to bring him in. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get something his agent could call a 'big' money ego massaging deal that's light in guarantees and in reality sees a substantial amount of the 'value' in team weighted 'behavior' incentives. I doubt there are many GM's out there who've forgotten the bullet the Raiders dodged with the contract they gave AB.

He will not like being second banana to Lamb but he is very talented. Not a good fit for pats at this stage of rebuild with young qb

I think a third was a bit pricey

Steelers usually know when to pull the plug. This guy will be stuffing Mike McCarthy Brian Schottenheimer into a locker by week 5 and strangling Dak on the sidelines by Thanksgiving.
I know a lot of guys in the WR Cult wanted him, but this dude is not a good fit for 2025.

People who followed this turd at Georgia are simply nodding their heads with the sad knowledge that it was not “if” but”when” amirite @UGAPatsfan

Not a Vrabel guy.

Not a Patriot, you don't have to hit me over the head with the AB tire tool twice. It may have taken Our Tommy a couple of whacks from it but I done learnt my lesson.

There were people in this forum who wanted to trade the #4 to Pitt in return for the #21 and Pickens. That was insane then, and this proves it. Pickens is the 2nd coming of Antonio Brown, and not in a good way. I’m glad the Cowboys traded for him, he’s going to be a ****show in Dallas, all anyone has to do is to tell him on Twitter how much Cee Dee Lamb is making per game and his head will explode.

PF2 and LTD may sound like "a lot of guys" or even a cult, but they're still just two dudes.

Amazing the amount of f ups the Steelers have had at receiver. Antonio Brown, Chase Claypool, Dionte Johnson, and now George Pickens. That doesn't even include their run of the mill dimwits like Juju, Martavis Bryant, Santonio Holmes, and Plaxico Burress.

With all his talent, Pittsburgh wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. The headaches he causes are bigger than his considerable talent.
I'm quite pleased that Jerruh has him now. They're perfect for each other. Lookin' forward to the "show".
