Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

They are playing hard and seem focused. All you can ask for.
And are getting zero respect from the officials. Defending champs, pretty big favorites and you wouldn't know if by how the officiating as been. Horrific.

Yep. Refs aren't gonna help them. Carter Jr is a c__t

Reminds me of Lambeer & Co.back in the day.
Refs are only calling fouls when a Celtic gets knocked unconscious and then stomped on.
So you gotta adjust ur game. Be aggressive and decisive on offense and extra physical on D.
Banchero plays pretty clean but a lot of the rest are borderline dirty. Sometimes not so borderline.

To my point, Porzingas with 5 fouls and then Jaylen with 5 in a game this series...not how the NBA works.

Yep.

We are getting a beating.

Pritch needs to get going...

Who the f is Orlando, what have they earned to get the calls/no calls that they do? Last time I checked they are nobody's.

Didn't know I w it was a hammy. That is not good. They can take awhile. They're treating the hell out of it, ice, electric stim, heat, stretching around the clock plus lots of rest. Even then he could miss game 5 as well. Depends on how severe it is.
Yes and those hammy can take him out the entire play offs. Gritty win yesterday. Championship grit one that game. We need to take of business Tuesday so guys can recoup and get ready for another tough 2nd round series.

I just don't get the NBA here. Is this the type of game they want? The Magic were getting away with tons of contact and yet the C's players were getting called for the same plays. I get it - the Magic foul on every play, but they started out calling everything but by the 3rd quarter, they were back to allowing it. It's almost like they went in at halftime and decided they were calling it too tight on the Magic.

The worst non-call was when Pritch got flattened under the hoop, resulting in an easy put back by the Magic to tie the game. That was an easy call but not for these refs. And why did Wagner get so many calls on drives to the hoop but not Tatum or Brown? And that double technical at the end? WTF? Really refs?

Could be just me but seems the tolerance for excessive contract isn't isolated to just ORL. Other teams/series seem to have the same kinda BS going on.

I do agree, though. In terms of calls this series has not been balanced at all

C's closed this game out like the Champs that they are. Did it on both ends of the court. Very satisfying.
As a fan.. I actually like the physical play.. the Knicks/Pistons and clippers/nuggets series like ours is physical reminds me of the 90s NBA. Love it!

Physical play is fine, when you don't call it against one team, but the other it's a problem. Orlando could have sent the Celtics to the line another 20 times based upon how they play.

I love physical bball as well- both to watch and play. But there's a difference between physical and dirty.
The longtime standard refereeing approach in the nba was " no harm no foul". Meaning if no advantage was gained by the foul- you don't call it.
Plus of course, no injury.
I agree with it.
What players and coaches are looking for is consistency within a game.
Allow one team to do something, then you gotta, allow the other team as well.
Different refs/crews will ref differently.
That's ok. But within an individual game, refs need to call things the same for both teams and also not waver back and forth calling something a foul in the 3rd qtr that wasn't called a foul in the 2nd qtr.
Players and coaches can adjust to any style game but they need consistently.
It's no different with the nfl or mlb.
Just be f'n consistent within the game.
Do ur damn job

I think we tend to overreact to losses. Jrue Holiday is not a great player right now and isn’t the reason we lost G3. I still think he’s getting too many minutes when he’s available. He’s a great bench option to provide steady ball movement and is still a plus defender but is an overall liability on offense and closer to average than elite on defense. Pritchard is overall a better player and White is a far better player. Just the reality of a soon to be 35 year-old in decline. He can be the Al Horford of the back court.

Oh without a doubt. But this in the NBA the reffs are nev going be consistent. The magic know the only wat they can win is by trying to be physical however they aren't being smart about it. I know the reffs switch up the crews each game.. unlike in the 90s you'd have the same reffs for a 7 games series.

Tough end to the Pistons game. If Brunson is taking that shot in New York there is a 100% probability he gets the call
That game was lost with 40 seconds left when Detroit had the lead and Cunningham split the defense going in for a layup but was hacked on the arm and the ball went out off of him.

It's been a hackerama in the playoffs.

Jrue is an older player with alot of ball of his body.. he has championship pedigree he plays off of smarts and instincts. Jrue is still an elite defender and capable scorer. At 34 not alot of players can still provide the intangibles. PP is a big shot maker, and a pest defensively. He ultimately will be the starter probably by next season. That loss Fri Jrue's presence would had I feel made a difference. However our offense failed us that game.
