The Cal Poly EDGE we signed, Elijah Ponder, has the athleticism you'd want from an edge rusher you draft in the top. He does lack size though and scouting reports suggest he's a designated pass rusher only at the next level. That athleticism gives him a foot up though

That seems to be the prevailing theme of the Vrabel draft. Quality kids who are great athletes.

Seemed with BB either they were good people, average athletes, or sketchy people and great athletes , or great athletes with a medical concern

There is none of that with this draft litter to my knowledge

I love the Dippre signing! We needed a young physical in-line TE to develop behind Henry & Hooper.
I like his punishing style, and I think he has a chance to be much more productive in the pass game than he was at Bama.

You have to like their measurables.

The Wooldridge signing is interesting - another #10 from the south. Seems like Will Forte as a good ole' boy.
But, style looks like a combo of Maye & Dobbs - good pocket awareness, quick release (quicker than Maye), enough athleticism to scramble when needed, definite leadership qualities, a little messy in mechanics, a lot of back foot throws,
Worth the QB3 spot - and certainly camp QB. Maybe sneaks on the PS

Almost 6'3" tall and over 250 lbs. and the RAS score considers him Poor, both short and skinny. LOL.

As I'm sure you know, RAS is relative, so in a world where there's 6'4" 265lb DEs he is a bit short and skinny. I don't pay too much attention to the height/weight scores, particularly for a position where different roles require different sizes. Having elite scoring on the athleticism is what matters to me.

It’s ridiculous to even call him a DE just because he played it at a small school. He’ll be an OLB as a pro and will probably play a lot standing up. Good developmental depth piece behind Landry and the rest. He needs to get stronger.

Lan Larison looks like Rex Burkhead… not CMC. Relax.

And of course the Eagles get Hollin Pierce and Vikings get Logan Brown, why would the Pats want them?

Was pounding the table for the Pats to take CJ Dippre last night, glad they got him in free agency. Great signing, they needed another TE and one who can block.

I wish we could watch Campbell, Larison, and Chism if they room together at their condo. Eat, sleep, play video games for five minutes, then talk football relentlessly.

Interesting from the Eliot Wolf press conference — he basically takes responsibility for the UDFA problems last season saying he didn’t have the process organized well enough. And that Vrabel and Cowden helped him organize it properly this year. So he seems to agree with your critique. Eliot Wolf Post-Draft Press Conference
That is damning.
The “I’ve been going to the Combine for 30 years” guy didn’t know how to sign udfa’s effectively???
If you are a GM how do you not look this up? Ask former GM’s you know?

This entire offseason has been night and day compared to the last one.

In the movie Idiocracy Luke Wilson comments: “In the army I was told ‘Lead, follow, or get out of the way!’ I got out of the way.”
It sounds like that has been the best approach here.

I wonder if Larison will take Will Campbell to the rodeo

************.

I appreciate his honesty but it seems that process should be 101 level stuff for a SVP of Football Operations/GM for an NFL team.

Maybe Vrabes kinda new that which is why Cowden is here.
