Here's the thing, guys. You can bring in talented guys to your team, but NONE of that matters after the last Draft Show is over and all the commercials have been forced in front of us. What builds Champions, is turning that INDIVIDUAL talent into a functioning T-E-A-M.

The once consistent factor in all the great teams in that 2 decade run of excellence was that on all those teams, the SUM was greater than the individual parts. We are a culture that is so focused into the INDIVIDUAL and their talents, we have forgotten just how important actual teamwork is to the ultimate result.

The draft is about bringing the best individual talents as possible, but the real work begins AFTERWARDS. That's what the Jets and other teams like them always fail to understand. Having the most individual talent is NOT a pathway to having a great team. It's having a great TEAM that makes it work.

We will judge this draft based on the success of how well Vrabel and his staff put this team together with their culture, their schemes, and their football gameplans. Don't forget that if you do not win or show progress toward winning players will turn you off very quickly.

Players ultimately put up with Grumpy Bill and all the hard work he brought to the table for ONE reason. They quickly came to realize that HIS game plans were consistently better than their opponents. That if they just execute that plan, they will likely win the game. And in those games they did lose, they could see the reasons why.

I am VERY happy with our draft and the positive commentary we are getting. It is nice to see pats fans happy for a change. What a novel idea. But let us not forget that NONE of those guys will be successful unless the team building is successful.

And for all the players left over, it will be well to remember that this will be the 3rd administration in 3 years. Perhaps a lot of the issues we've had with recent drafts have something to do with that. That those some of those players will thrive in a stable and competent culture. Only time will tell, but it makes for interesting story telling.

It was smart to trade back there, they didn't have a 6th so they got one at the top of the round and now have two 7ths.

They can secure a player they otherwise would have had to bid for his UDFA services for on a cost controlled contract.

What up Ken!!!.....its good to see the old guard still active after all these years. Well said old friend.

I like him.....If we had drafted a big back early and needed a 3rd down back, I'd agree but we don't have a role for him now that we picked Henderson
If he can play there’s a role. A Stevenson/Gibson/Henderson/Smith RB room would be heavy on receiving over power running but that’s ok. Henderson isn’t just a receiving back and honestly even Gibson can do more too.

I truly believe the Bills might have stolen the Pats next target, Hawes

Just shows that Eliot Wolf was finally given control over this draft.

Did Jared Ivey and Damien Martinez kill someone’s dogs?

If he was our target we would have taken him instead of trading back to add a 7

@manxman2601 back in the day, I did a mock draft where I took Devon Neal late. You said he wouldn’t last that long. Well here we are he’s at the top of ESPN‘s best available.
