DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION Official 2025 Draft Day Thread: Day Two

Hey all.. Could someone remind me how the 6th round pick from the Jaguars for Mac Jones ended up with the Lions? I'm trying to update the transaction thread and the NFL website is horrible at tracking stuff. LOL

The Game Day on offense (assuming health)

QB 2 - Maye Dobbs
TE 2 - Hunter Hooper
WR 5 Diggs WILLIAMS Boutte Douglas Hollins
OT 3 CAMPBELL Moses Lowe
OG 3 Owenu Strange Wes
C 2 Bradbury WILSON
RB 3 Stevenson HENDERSON Gibson

That's 20.... So they will probably get 1 more RB to add in to the mix. Guard is the weak link right now.

Top 3 pass catchers of Diggs Williams and Hunter should be serviceable. We have good depth options behind them. And who knows... maybe Polk figures it out and kcis Douglas/Boutte off the game day roster. If they do get another Guard I think it spells the end for Strange... Wes is the 8th guy as he backs it all up. Lowe i think most agree is the 3rd OT.
I'd rather have a 3rd TE active than have a 5th WR.

It's no longer a need but I'm really surprised Dylan Sampson didn't get drafted.

I had the Pats taking 2 RBs in the draft with only having Stevenson and Gibson as legit RBs.. Jennings may or may not make the team.

Think it was last year’s 6th rounder, we used it to take milton iirc

Me hearing these draft experts gushing about our draft…

Wolf said in interview thay guy who they wanted @38, was taken before their pick. What you guys think, is it Higgins? Must be him, right?

You're right. I misread it in my Transaction thread. Thanks for the correction.

He didn’t say that explicitly, he was saying that he and Cowden and Vrabel were discussing who to take and everyone (plus apparently Cam Williams and Matt Groh) gave their input which was not all the same guy. Ultimately one of the options was taken which simplified their decision.

guessing we will see a lot less “FIRE WOLF!!!!” posts around these parts for a bit

For someome who has been begging for an edge guy all night, I have to admit I am pretty impressed with what we picked up, especially the 2 3rd round picks. Saw some brief clips on Williams and while I can't compare him with some others who went right after, what I saw was ELECTRIC. He was uncoverable during one on ones I saw at the senior bowl. Relatively small, but 5'11 190 isn't small. Does have small hands, but so does Donald Trump.

You can't be too athletic and Wilson is all of that and more. EveryONE of our picks are uber-athletic so far and we have 6 more to go.

I physically winced after both trade downs, but in the end I think got decent value for the drop downs, and STILL got a potential future starter. I wouldn't be surprised to see have 2 picks in the 4th round and giving up one of the 5th's.

I hope we are done on offense, except maybe a TE, but we still need a FS, Edge, and IDLman. Now I have no delusions of finding instant impact players on day 3, but at least some guys who might be developmental players who might turn into starters in 2 or 3 years
cNow one last remark.

There has been much said about how this OLman or that one will be cut after today. No no no no. I still believe that guys like Robinson, Sow, Strange, and Wallace COULD be contributors on this team, because that is the beauty of competition.

Come late July there will be 15-18 guys battling for their professional live for just 10 roster spots. Nothing bad can come out of that kind of life or death competition. And make no mistake that it truly will be life or (professional) death. All the guys I mentioned ARE at risk and more. They know that in 3 months they have to be ready to fight to make this team, and to do this they better be working their asses off to prepare themselves for an EPIC battle of survival.

I think that is GREAT and will end up giving us the best 10 man OL group possible. Mike Owenu better not come back fat THIS year, or he might find himself out on his ass because some who worked harder came to camp ready to compete. I LOVE IT.

Meh. The moron actually said the guy they wanted wasn't even there.

He couldn't help him self.

Also, let's wait and see what these guys look like in a game before we crown him.

Also. Fire wolf.

I still think Wolf should be fired. His drafts have been horrid. Look at how many players are still on the team from the 2022 draft. Just Cole Strange and Marcus Jones. And Jones has landed on the IR for 3 straight years.

The 2023 draft has already lost Mafi, Ryland and Speed. Andrews, Mapu, Sow, and Bolden are fighting for jobs and may get cut.

The 2024 draft is a loser beyond Drake Maye so far. Robinson is pure garbage. Baker, Polk, Bell, Wallace, Dial, are all question marks with Dial having taken the most snaps. Milton was already traded.

While most people put the 2023 draft on BB, they forget that WOLF was the one feeding BB the information as he was head of the Personnel Dept.
