Draft day 2: reset

I'm the only dude that had Emmanwori as a top 10 talent in the draft? I assure you I'm not.
Only websites run by dudes who live in their Mom's basement would have Emmanwori as high as 8 or 10 (as high as 7 multiple times) in their mocks. Never heard of these podunk websites pff or foxsports or cbssports.

Will Johnson is slow as molasses as well. Beck also. We do not need slow guys.

Yeah, spent some time looking at his tape this morning and he didn't have a step to lose. With the injury he's a hard pass on day 2

I want running back Caleb Johnson. More of a luxury pick. He reminds me of Nick Chubb.

I don't trust ANY rookie wr to thrive under McDaniels so that kills all excitement for high round guys for me. I hope we target defensive guys that are above average when it comes to interceptions. We are changing our dline to a more attacking style and we need more ballhawks to take advantage of the change.

This is the day I've been looking forward to the most. There is such good depth on day two, it's going to be really hard to screw up our picks. There's a real opportunity to get three future starters or impact role players today.
Yeah, look at the day 2 haul from last year, Slo Polk and don't call me William Wallace. I beg to differ buy yeah, you can really screw up those picks!

I've not really considered Johnson because he's so clearly a zone runner which doesn't really fit Josh McDaniels. Maybe his schemes have changed though.

I wasn't around for last years draft so I can't compare the relative strengths of day two. All I know is that there's a very strong day two class this year, we have three picks and we should come out of it well.

Ive been posting this for many years. WR are shiny objects that mesmerize certain posters. I then post that the pats never had one of these top wide outs in any super bowl they have one. While having them is exciting they can be shut down. The the pats did this when they beat ‘The Greatest Show on Turff’ To win their first super bowl
You need playmakers to win, doesn't need to be a WR but most of the Pats superbowl wins came with elite playmakers.

2001 Brady had Troy Brown.
2003 David Givens, Deion Branch and Kevin Faulk
2004 Corey Dillon, Kevin Faulk, Givens and Branch.
2014 Rob Gronkowski, Shane Vereen, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Blount
2016 Julian Edelman, James White, Danny Amendola, Martellus Bennet
2018 Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Sony Michelle (rushed for 98 yards with 1 TD, his legs gave up after giving us this 1 good season)

You need playmakers to win.

Why the obsession from some fans with LTs and Olinemen in general? Some of the greatest to ever do it like John Hannah, Tony Boselli, and Joe Thomas never won a superbowl.

Read what I wrote. You are the only dude who would have picked him at 4 and defended it. I personally do not know any of the well-known pundits who had him as the #4 player of the draft or to even be considered at #4. Kiper rated him at 17 and SI had him at 25. Bleacher Report has him as a 2nd round pick. NLF Draft Buzz has him at 19. NFL Mock Draft Database ranked him as 29. Pudits are not authorities but Foxboro would have rioted, and rightfully so, if Emmanwori went at 4. That would have been ridiculous.

The Pats are almost devoid of any talent, especially on offense! Putting a tRex at left tackle isn't going to solve anything.

With the exception of gronk, none of those recievers were elite. None were in the class of moss, chase, rice l fitzgerald etc. plus if you have a great line it gives the qb more time to find his wrs.

Wolf thought Polk was BPA
IIRC there were very few complaints about the Polk pick. Most people thought is was a solid if unspectacular "safe" pick. A good possession receiver, a guy who would win 50-50 balls and with, ironically, "great hands". That being said, at the time I was a big McConkey fan. I wanted either him or the DB the Eagles drafted in the same round.

I still hold out SOME hope for Polk. He looked like a different guy than his college days, or even what we saw in camp that year. But last season he deserved all the criticism he got. Was it an injury? Was it the coaching? Was it the scheme?

Guys can go 2 ways after a season like that. He can fold up and wither away to the guy at the barbershop who regales his pal about his days in the NFL, or he can come back with a fierce determination to prove every doubter wrong.

Bottom line that we should at LEAST give him a full TC to show us which guy he actually is

That's a very simplistic way of looking at it. Randy Moss and Terrell Owens are HOFers that never won a SB. You can play that game at any position. Of course you need playmakers to win. Just like you need a good OL. All of those teams you listed had good OLs as well as the playmakers you listed.

Now where, I will kind of side with you is that for some reason, many on this board are absolutely fixated on this idea that they need to get the OL and THEN get the playmakers. That's a silly line of thinking. They need to pick and sign players that are available and there shouldn't be this unhealthy obsession with forcing a certain order. To become a good team again they will need to add tons of talent on the line and at playmaking positions so take them both as they come.

I bet Chase will never have a Superbowl stat line that will equal that of Branch, Edelman, and especially James White (still criminal that he wasn't the MVP of that SB). Granted none of them will like ever make the HOF, but for that Sunday, they were amazing!

Give you credit for your doubling down on a useless point. Heaven forbid you're wrong on the internet.

Read what I wrote. I would have defended the pick at 4 had they made it because of his talent.

He was not my pick at 4.

He was number 10 on my board in pure talent. I never dreamed he'd drop to 38 and he still might not.

Now run along, it's almost time for Felger.
