Trade for the Beast before Buff does! Jameson Williams on the block?

I wanted to trade for Williams at the deadline of the 23 season when his stock was low. The Lions seemed to be phasing him out when they traded for Donovan Peoples-Jones but since then Williams has seemed to find his form so I don't know why they would trade him now when they're finally getting something out of him.
Different kinds of receivers, different roles. Marvin Jones Jr. stepped away from the team for personal matters and was released, and a week later the team traded for Donovan Peoples-Jones to replace him. It was still Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Josh Reynolds leading the way, with Kalif Raymond and Jameson Williams fighting for targets beneath them. DPJ ended up being a non-factor entirely.

I agree though they've unlocked something with Williams this past season after waiting patiently and I doubt they give up on him now.

Doesn’t Jameson Williams bring the same issue that Tee Higgins had? He had a really good season playing opposite a stud/elite WR 1

I don’t HATE it, but I think giving up draft capital for him is a little shaky

Don’t forget he was hurt and suspended.

I disagree he's just what we Need Vrabel should be all over this. Lions showed their hands so they ain't getting what they really want: Jameson Williams can grow with Maye.
You read my post wrong. Detroit needs to keep him as their window is closing. However, if he pulls an Aiyuk and threatens to hold out, then the Lions need to act quickly by signing him or trading him.

38 feels like a lot for him

I agree, and that's saying that as someone who loves his talent and would be excited to have him on the Pats. He brings rare speed that few in the NFL possess, he's not just a go-route merchant like Tyquan Thornton. It's more than straight-line speed. But the contract situation is the problem. He's making peanuts this year, but will cost $15,493,000 in 2026 and he'll have to be extended. That's a risky proposition for a guy who has only had one full season's worth of great production to his name. Might be better to just use the pick on Jayden Higgins and get those 4 years of cost control.
