According to Adan Schefter, Kayshon Boutte is "deemed expendable" to the Patriots in a possible trade this weekend.

You gotta think they intend to draft or trade for a starting quality WR this weekend if Boutte is expendable.

Not surprising. Boutte is left over from BB and Mayo. Doubt he is worth more than a 7th rounder. He could simply get cut
I would also think Bourne is expendable also.

Problem is, he shouldn’t be expendable, he’s the Pat’s 3rd best receiver at this moment.
After the draft he may drop down the depth chart I see Diggs, Bourne, Douglas, Polk and Baker as 5 WRs
Polk and Baker are getting another year to prove themselves.

...to make room for wheelchair guy and "best hands in the league"? Really?
No.

It would indicate they're at least drafting a guy, if not signing someone else as well.

I don’t know how Vrabel sees it, but Boutte made a nice year 2 jump, so maybe he makes a similar jump from year 2 to year 3. Boutte before his ankle injury, was a top notch prospect. He was close to that level last year, 2 years removed from the injury. Also he built nice chemistry with Maye. It seemed like Maye trusted him, and he was Maye’s deep threat.

Now IF they draft a really good receiver in the draft, then maybe this can be revisited. But Boutte was better than Bourne, Polk and Baker last year.

That's the way off this team.

Boutte started doing something late 24. Trade him.

Milton actually looked good vs the Bills backups. Trade him.

Don't see why he would be. As of now he has more value to the Pats than any other team. That means any trade for him will be The Patriots getting the worst end of the deal.

He's 22, entering his 3rd year and was our 3rd highest in receiving yards, 2nd highest in YPG and seems like he still has some room to improve. Plus he's cheap when we will be a team a bit up against the cap next year (not too much, but a cheap contract like that is nice). Add in the fact that since he is 22 and entering year 3 he probably still has a chance to improve a bit more next year. Now add in the fact his 2 best games by far were late in the year. I don't think he'll be pulling in close to 100 yards/game much, but it does show upside.

Why would we as a super needy WR team trade our current best prospect on a good contract? He has value here. As for on most other teams... he's a serviceable #3/#4 with some upside on a good deal. He is worth way more to use than the mid 5th (at best) we'd hope to get back.

odafe oweh would be interesting imo

They are trading for someone or drafting someone early.

FWIW, Schefter gives no reasoning as to why Boutte might be traded; he simply lists a bunch of players: "Here are players on rookie contracts who could be deemed expendable," and Boutte is the last name on that list.

Fundamentally speaking, there's no compelling reason not to trade Polk or Baker if someone is interested.

I’d draft 2 WRs, and trade Polk and Bourne, and if I’m trading Boutte, I am trading for a vet or drafting a third wr.

You'd take 9 WRs if they put you in charge. Even WR high priest @PatsFan2 isn't doing that.

What?? I'd Draft 10 in a 8th Round Draft one can't be too sure.

That's a mistake they have the initials all mixed up they meant Kendrick Bourne and not K Boutte.
