Should we trade for LT Kolton Miller?

Yeah, but compensatory picks are arbitrary. Also if you trade for a third round pick now you get to spend the pick in this upcoming draft, if you wait you don't get the pick until next offseason. I don't think it happens but if I was the Pats I'd be on the phone.
The Raiders actually would not see the 3rd until the 2027 draft as next year would be his walk year with comp pick the following year. A third this year would be very attractive.

Works too so long as it starts with Carter I'm good. Even though I know he'll be gone I'm not giving up until it's over.
You know, all of a sudden there is a LOT of negative press coming out about Carter. Things like him having a bad attitude, and him having foot injury issues. Take those items and add questions about, is he big enough to be anything more than a situational rusher; I think the possibility of Carter falling are becoming better than they were last week.

Of course, it could all be the usual smoke screens that teams send out to add confusion to the process. Who knows, maybe the Pats are part of the conspiracy to defame Carter so he'll fall to us. Smart move IF it's true.

As for Kolter, I'd do the trade for one of the 3rds. There will still be some level 2 OLmen there for the Raiders to grab. BTW the Raiders would do that deal, because the thing with comp picks is that you never know if you'll get that bottom of the 3rd pick. If the Raider happen to sign a big time FA that year it might wash off some of that value of their loss of Kolton. I don't know the actual formula of how it works (I miss Miguel) But gains do work against losses.

At any rate a 3rd this year is enough compensation. Kolton is a middle of road LT, top 15-20. He's the kind of guy who I think Campbell will turn out to be as a LT. OK but not a head turner. IIRC he had a rough rookie year before developing into the solid LT he is now.

Coming away with Miller and Carter, Miller and Graham, Miller and Membou would just be AWESOME, especially the latter. It would allow us to have Membou start his career as the back up swing tackle and develop, or even start at RT if he proves the better player. Miller, Strange, Bradbury, Owenu, and Membou would almost immeidately turn a glaring weakness into a strength, with Morgan, Robinson, Wallace, Sow, Lowe and Brown all fighting to be in a back up OL that would be better than what we had out there last year, given another year of experience and health.

Yeah take it as that: not many Teams are passing on the next Micah Parsons.

If they want to keep him, they absolutely will because as you point out they can afford to. But there was a report they haven't engaged so they might just not want to pay to keep him.

They seem to have solved RT in the draft last year with DJ Glaze. They're sitting at #6 this draft and who knows, maybe they really like one of the LTs and are leaning in that direction. If that's what they're thinking, it's possible they view Miller as someone they're better off trading for an extra pick to help somewhere else.

If that's the case we should definitely be interested, though that begs the question of why we don't just take the LT that Vegas would seemingly have earmarked for the #6 pick. Though it could maybe be a case where Sanders goes to NYG at #3 and then we feel we have t capitalize on Hunter/Carter at #4. Then let's say JAX goes Graham at #5 which leaves Campbell or whatever LT Vegas likes at #6 and they take him which frees them up to trade Miller to us for a 3rd or whatever.
The Raiders have a lot of needs. Also Kolton Miller has a lot less question marks than a rookie at a position nobody thinks has a clear #1 in this draft class. A short term deal won’t break the Patriots and they’re closer to winning now than the Raiders are… they don’t even have a QB.

How about this Trade Raiders get #4 and 77 from the Patriots. We get #6 - Kolton Miller and 68 From the Raiders??

Hey, this close to the draft, I'm throwing out all the life rafts I can to justify Carter falling to us. I might even start a rumor myself that Carter believes in diversity, tolerance, global warming and said something negative about Trump and his policies. That's all it should take to get the President to investigate him. THAT might drop his stock enough to have him fall to us.

Wanna help me get that rumor started?

I'm in with that. Get on the phone Vrabel, give Tom a call.

Just need the one. Ward 1 Hunter 2 Giants pass on Carter.

Investigate? Or deport? Just remember, Carter can’t play from an El Salvadoran prison.

That Giants Team is pissing me off: why would you Draft T Hunter while having the Elite M Nabers?? Cleveland is the fly in the ointment thanks to Mayo: nobody know what the hell they're going to do.

IF some Team come offering a haul with Carter or Hunter still on the Board would you Trade?? For me it depends on what's the returns are. IF a Second is included this year plus a 2026 Day 2 I'm down. I'm not falling in love with a certain player IF He nets us more picks.

Tunsil was traded for a 3rd. I wouldn't offer up more than that for Miller. I'd push for it to be a 4th round pick since Miller wants a new contract.

Tough to answer that now if the Pats share the consensus view on Hunter/Carter being head and shoulders above the rest as the best 2 non-QB prospects. It may not be likely, but it's conceivable that NYG take a QB #3 and that would DRASTICALLY affect the value of a #4 for #6. Tough to quantify that now until we see what happens there.

If Hunter/Carter are on the board at #4, I'd say no to this and just try to give up a pick for Miller if they're really open to trading him. Take the blue chipper at #4. But if Hunter/Carter go before #4, then I'd probably be more open to something like this where we get Miller but still keep the same number of picks to add players as opposed to sending one out and reducing our number of picks.

I'm taking Carter or Hunter.

About the only thing that could make me think twice would be if this years pick swap is small one and that team is offering next year's first.

Why would they draft Carter when they have Burns and Thibadeuax not that they are amazing but don't the Giants have way bigger needs?

You make this deal 11 times out of 10.

We are giving up way too much in that scenario.

3rd rounder for Miller. That's it.

Now we need to pay him which can be done.

I would give up 38 for Miller. Then they could use the 4 for Graham or Warren, or Membou and start him out at left guard for a year. They could use their 3rd rounders to move up for a receiver.

3rd rounder for a starting LT isn’t going to get it, at least imo.
I wouldn’t hate trading for him (as long as an extension or contract gets done) and grabbing Jeanty. That’s if Carter and Hunter are gone of course.

I'm in.

I said a 3rd as he's 29 and needs a new deal. Maybe it's a 2nd rounder. Not sure.
