Patriots kick the tires on Tet

I'll take an elite RB over Matt Light any day. He's probably the most overrated player in the dynasty era.
The point is good solid left tackle vs elite running back. Not light specifically

The world isn't ending in one year. Passing up, by your definition, the best prospect in a decade, to draft a good but not great LT is silly because you should be able to get that caliber of LT in the future but you won't find that caliber of RB prospect for another decade.

You have a set order that you want positions addressed without any regard for how good the players in those positions are. It doesn't work like that. You draft players not positions.
Agree completely……except for running backs.

Answer me, would you take an elite kicker or punter prospect in the top 5? My guess is no. If not, then your view is no different than my view on running backs

There very famously was a player named Randy Moss who got criticized constantly for things he said regarding effort
For the record this was his full quote, which makes it clear that what he meant was closer to "I play because I want to play."
“I play when I want to play. Do I play up to my top performance, my ability every time? Maybe not. I just keep doing what I do and that is playing football. When I make my mind up, I am going out there to tear somebody’s head off. When I go out there and play football, man it’s not anybody telling me to play or how I should play. I play when I want to play.”

I would take a Matt light level left tackle over the best running back prospect in a decade. You can call me simplistic all you want, this is data supported.
Same. Barkley was a generational prospect. A rebuilding team like the Giants had no business drafting him and effectively wasted his career and their time. There's always like 5-8 high end RB's and then you can get acceptable production out of the next 9-40 range. Stevenson and Gibson are far more likely to look improved behind a better line than an elite RB will make our line look good. Taking an RB is just kicking the can on the line and WR's another year and just wasting everyone's season.

Now the flipside is, one single lineman isn't going to magically fix the line and people need to understand that we are just getting one cog in the machine. We need 5. And we'd still have a depth problem.

Tet could be a interesting pick at 4 I think it would be a huge surprise.
It would. Patriots fans undersell Tet a lot, but honestly, Patriots fans have a pretty well deserved reputation on being snakebitten by WR's and there's a running joke that we cry about them all year and then start doing jumping jacks when free agency and the draft come to avoid investing.

Idk if Tet is the answer. But he's a position of need and imo is less of a question mark than some of the other guys we could get

If Jeanty is Barkley 2.0 and we take him, then we are the Giants 2.0 (NOT the eagles). Taking running backs in the top 10 is franchise suicide .

They are the cherry on top of a great team. Not franchise building blocks.

Agreed, the talent is tempting but you can get a serviceable RB off the scrap heap.

And the sad reality of modern RBs is they could be all pros one year and two years later washed up: il

I’d honestly rather have a pro bowl level left tackle over an all pro level running back for this team.

You can get 10-13 years out of a durable effective Tackle and you could get 3-5 out of an all world running back.

You have a team with the second youngest QB in the league who showed some damn good flashes with a lousy offensive line, lackluster run game and a bottom 3 receiver corps. Keep him upright, give him time and hopefully you have a legit top 5 QB for the next 15 years

I agree. My point is that running back is a low positional impact without a very good offensive line. It would be a waste of a premium asset at this point. Build the line and rest of the team. Then get the running back.
I would typically agree with this but this draft isn't exactly typical. If we were to go Jeanty in this draft I think would be equal parts liking Jeanty as disliking some of the other options. That's pretty much going to be the case for whoever we end up taking.

Example I don't think we'd go with a short armed LT if like last year the choice at WR was Harrison or Nabors but compared to Tet it might be the pick. Just have to decide if Jeanty is good enough to overcome importance of positional value.

And honestly I think a little too much is being made of the drop in talent these guys might not be true top 5 guys but that doesn't make these guys second round talent either probably more like picking in the teens and we got Gonzo at 17 recently so figure out who is the best of the group and don't get it wrong and we'll be happy with the pick regardless of position (and that's not to say ignore positional needs just have to weigh things properly).

I know there's the clip of him saying he doesn't like film study. But that doesn't seem like enough to call the kid a dog. Do you have any other evidence that suggests he's a dog?

His production over multiple seasons on a bad team with a bad QB would indicate he put in the effort even in meaningless games.

I've been convinced 4 his too high for him. I haven't completely removed him from my wish list so if we trade down or he falls far enough we could trade up for him I'm still very interested. But I'm open to more info if you have more than just that one clip that indicates he's a dog?

Jeremiah had a podcast last week that discussed controversial players, and he said he was hearing league front offices that they were concerned that MacMillan is………… a dog.

Misinformation season.

Misinformation season.

Jeremiah isn’t making **** up, and he didn’t specify any team, so that makes no sense. He was talking about concerns that MacMillan coasts on athletic ability, and that they were voicing concerns that he could be a …dog. And if I’m using a 1st round pick and giving them millions I sure as hell wouldn’t be picking a kid who doesn’t care about being great at his profession.

You, on the other hand, were insistent that they should move heaven and earth to go get George Pickens, so you clearly don’t give a **** about bringing punks and losers on to this team. You want every WR in America, and I expect you to start a thread on bringing in Rae Carruth when he gets out of prison for having his pregnant girlfriend murdered.

So you're saying you find Tet offensive?
I was going to reply to Steve from P1 who said something about not even thinking about defense. I am glad this is here in this context because the connecting fiber to the punchline was so tortured.
