BB's new book has no mention of Bob Kraft - admits shocking mistake

I dunno about everyone else, but I am really tired of talking about the Belichick/Brady/Kraft divorce and all the hurt feelings and all that chit. I am very excited about the direction under Mike Vrabel and I prefer to really look forward at this point. I don't think you can have 20 year marriages in the NFL with all the ego, and we were really lucky to have it last as long as it did. It's like these guys are fighting for scraps.
They went on almost a 20 year run. Because of that, the debate will never end. But yes, I'm looking forward to moving on with Vrabel and starting something new.

BB not saying anything bad about anyone other than himself is in line with what we know about him. I can’t say I ever saw him talking ****. Shade thrown at reporters sure. This will be an interesting read.

I think it's pretty clear, going forward, that BB doesnt want to go to the grinder of NFL job

At university, his name will carry him as long as he wants, he can be as demanding as he can be as demanding as he wants from his Coordinators , they know his name will carry strengh for their future.

Young player MIGHT choose to be coached by the GoAT also instead of taking the biggest NIL somewhere else

"We had people from the league office, high-level people telling us not to hire him," Kraft told Guregian."

That's actually a weird thing to say and something the league should stay out of. I didn't like the state of the team going into the 2000 season as Bill stripped the roster with no viable replacements and I lost confidence after the 5-11 season. He took a lot of heat going into 2001 and I didn't think BB was going to last with the team as it was. Even though Bob gave up a 1st round pick to get him, this team was seen as a contender that just needed some help. They were getting worse and not better until Tom took the field.

In an alternate universe, if the Pats were able to have kept their 1st round pick, I think the pick would've been Shaun Alexander.
That is all ego from Kraft.

He's roasted Charley Casserly and Steve Gutman publicly.

That was the beginning of the end for BB and BK.

BB wanted to win one like Tuna did but without Brady. Hard to say what Jimmy would have done in NE as the QB.
He would’ve gotten injured.

Just goes to show that Kraft looks for advice from the wrong places. Good thing he ignored them that time and got BB. But let's not pretend like he hasn't on several notable instances gotten terrible advice from his "friends" in the league (airgate).

I think it’s class by Belichick to not talk **** about Kraft after the hit job Kraft did on him with Dynasty.
I could not agree more.

BB not blasting Kraft when that hit piece came out was amazing. Continuing to take the high road and not even mentioning the backstabber’s name is more of the same. In the case of BB vs RK, Bill is the mensch and it’s not even close.

Interesting. I’ll have to check these out. Schooled I am as usual!
Not the intent to school.

When irritated, BB has teeth.

On Casserly...

Steve Gutman was President of the Jets when BB resigned and accused Bill of going through "emotional turmoil". In the aftermath, BB said to his buddy Armen Keteyian, BB said about Gutman, "No one has talked so much and won so little"

Gave a guy a chance no one was high on.. at the time.. with full power.. RK deserves mention. It's tasteless.
BB did not have full power until he won the 2001 SB with Brady.

BB did not want to give Bledsoe that big contract. Kraft did and it pixxed BB off the way Bledsoe disappeared in the woods of Montana during negotiations. Kraft wanted to take Brady out and put Bledsoe back in once healed, but BB objected and Kraft went along with it. If BB lost the Super Bowl or lost in the playoffs because of the QB (Brady) BB would have been fired.

If anyone is tasteless its ungrateful Baloney Bob and his nipping at the ankles hit pieces.

Amazes me that people don't realize Kraft is doing everything he can to destroy Belichick.
BB is smarter and Kraft will never get over on him.

BB is at UNC and still collecting a paycheck from Kraft Inc. Watch BB win this season and field a good team destroying the foolish myths that the game has passed him by.

No. "The Dynasty" smear job was tasteless.
RKK is lucky he didn't get mentioned, because god knows how many rub and tugs hes had at strip malls around the country.

always told growing up, If you don't have anything good to say about someone, say nothing.
BB followed that advice.
That’s very good advice. BB may be following it.

I wondered if he has very mixed feelings about RK and was unable to sort them out well enough to compose an acceptable chapter discussing their relationship.

Especially in a book about coaching, if he feels he was done wrong by someone he has respected just not talking about it would make sense. And Bill seems to be really good at blocking out distractions and being laser focused on his key points (except when that breaks down of course).

He may also realize he did his part to screw things up there and not want to talk about it.

I’d bet there’s all of those contributing to his decision to say nothing about Thunder. Whatever. It is what it is.

That’s surprising, given how Bob Kraft is so much of a mensch in so many ways. That’s obviously important to him. But in this one relationship he’s let his feelings override his judgment. Clearly it is incredibly personal for him and BB hurt him a lot. I suspect a couple of factors contributed. It seems personal relationships are important to RK, and they aren’t BB’s forte, so I think they probably never bonded as Bob would have liked, over the entire course of BB’s tenure as HC of the NEP. But RK and TB12 did bond, and when Belichick put his job responsibility of winning games and titles for the franchise ahead of stroking Brady’s feelings it ultimately caused a rupture in the relationship between Kraft and his GOAT HC. Ironically that may have also prevented Bill’s success in delivering future wins and titles. Can’t ever know about that but it was an ugly ending. It’s sad that Robert will probably go to his grave still harboring animus towards the coach that built his dynasty for him.

We don't really know.

He got hurt in SF trying to be a RB.
Jimmy is just fragile, but he also had some pretty stupid plays that got him injured. With that said, SF’s OL has been horrendous in pass protection while he was there and it he continued with Purdy. The 49ers have ignored it for years and it has cost them Super Bowl’s.
If BB lost the Super Bowl or lost in the playoffs because of the QB (Brady) BB would have been fired.
I don’t think Bill would’ve been fired had they made the playoffs with Brady and lost as early as the divisional round. But I do think Bledsoe would’ve gotten his job back as Brady was pretty rough to watch overall in year 1. However, I do think Bill would’ve been fired had they missed the playoffs because Bill defied Bob's request to get Bledsoe back in.

Bill was a great coach and an adequate GM until he wasn't any more, whereupon he was justifiably fired. At no point was he a paragon of empathy or even of simple decency. I don't know why these distinctions elude so many fans. Bill is, as the man once said, what he is: nothing less, but nothing more.

RK has his faults - no question - but for Bil to exclude him from his book seems petty and childish to me.
