Just for reference, this kid just signed with Miami, and will be an incoming freshman next year.



That's the quickest release I've ever seen, myself. But that's just there for reference as to what a 'quick release' looks like and means.

Tom Brady had among the quickest releases in the NFL. But a lot of that had to do with pre-snap processing as well. He was the best in the business at manipulating the defense and knowing exactly where he wanted to go before he even got the ball from center.

Even if Maye doesn't have a lightning release, a lot of that can be mitigated with good pre-snap reads and fast decision making. I've seen pictures of Maye and Brady hanging out so hopefully he is picking Tom's brain on what he needs to learn to get better.

I think you are mis-interpreting „quick release“ to mean „time until released“.

I know he didn’t have „quickest release in nfl“ his first 3-5 years til he worked out his mechanics w the qb guru. And even then it was (as you say) his process time that shortened things up.

So his overall time snap to release was quick: I think likely usually 2 -3 seconds.

But his time (once he decided where) that is necessary to ****, release & follow-thru I would be willing to bet was likely middle of the road. But I’m Not even sure what the range & avg for this might be. It mostly never gets mentioned (clocked?).

Kid seems to have a very low release, as in the potential to have a lot of batted balls when there is an actual line in front of him ...

It is low, it's about where Cam Ward's usual release point is.
I haven't seen a batted ball issue yet, but it's just high school tape, that probably wouldn't come up yet.

I watched some brief Aaron Rogers, Mahomes and Matt Ryan… none of them pat the ball before each throw. Occasionally maybe, but it looks like they used the pat to stop a pass and go another direction.

Let’s pretend for a second Maye wasn’t a 22 year old kid and possibly has some room to improve.

Brady didn’t make dumb decisions based on who his weapons were, he threw dumb interceptions early in his career then improved.

Didn't see a pat on any of his picks but I did see a mix of a bad OL, bad offensive coaching and a few typical rookie mistakes that should be fixed with better coaching.
1) vs Texans - overthrow
2) vs Texans - deflection from DE in the lane because Wheatley whiffed on his block
3) vs Titans - backfooted pass from pressure from free rusher
4) vs Titans in OT - missed deep throw into double coverage
5) vs Bears - missed checkdown weird footwork before pass
6) vs Rams - blown routes
7) vs Miami - backfooted pass from pressure from free rusher, blown OL assignment
8) vs Colts - deflection
9) vs Cardinals - deflected. Boutte literally hot potatoed the ball to the defender.
10) vs Bills - backfooted pass from collapsed pocket from Lowe sucking as usual and Jacobs pushing the rusher into Maye

Stingley is all pro level and somehow didn't jump that on the ball tap? So 16.67% of the time he ball tapped in the first 6 throws, I don't think I need to watch anymore.

It's OK for great players to pat the ball sometimes, like Maye does, but not OK for Maye because CB's somehow are looking at the QB for a tap? I'd tap the ball 6 times, so my wr can run by him while he's staring at the QB.

Dan Marino did it more than anyone yet somehow is in the hall of fame.

This is a complete 100% non-issue.
