I believe as many others that this years draft is weak in the Top of the draft
Using the Top 10 players
1. Carter
2. Hunter
3. Graham
4. Campbell
6. Warren
7. Jeanty
8. Membou
9. Ward
10 Sanders
Where would they land in last years (2024) draft
Using R1 pick 1,2,3 etc

According to our #1 draft guru, Campbell doesn't belong in any top 20 of any draft.
But other than that, yeah, especially the two QB's.
I suspect Carter and Hunter would be top 5 in any recent draft. Jeanty and Membou top 20. That's about it.
But what do I know? Not much. Given that nearly half the players in the League were undrafted, much of this is sports media industry hype.

I appreciate BGC’s contribution to this site
He could be spot on about Campbell
But many of the big draft guru’s have him in the Top 10
I also appreciate Manxman, Bakes, Captain Stone and Dlivetey etc as well as others take on the draft
I personally feel the Top of this draft is really weak

I think one of the weirdest phenomenons in following the draft, is how people talk in definitives, and people seem to think that the draftees can’t become better than they are now, that they are a finished product.

The draft as we all know, is a crapshoot. Nobody can know what will become of these kids. Hell, a QB drafted after the first round could wind up being the best QB in the entire draft, hell they could wind up being better than last year’s QBs. Nobody knows, it’s all guessing.

I’ve studied prior drafts, and it’s incredible how many flops there were, especially in the 1st round. And then there’s the 1989 first round, 4 of the top 5 became Hall of Famers, and 5 of the top 20 became HOFs (Steve Atwater at 20). Hopefully the is year’s draft is like 1989, and we get one of the Hall Of Famers at #4, but we don’t need a Hall of Famer, we just need guys who play well and fit well in Vrabel’s system. I think of Kevin Faulk in 1999, a 2nd round pick, is he a Hall of Famer ? No, but was he important to the Pat’s early Dynasty ? Hell Yeah ! Give me 3 or 4 Kevin Faulk types, not necessarily a RB, just a Kevin Faulk type in his career at his position.

So in a roundabout way of answering your question, I think guys like Carter and Hunter would be high up in last year’s draft.

Last year 3 QB's went in the top 3. That isn't changing.

Joe Alt pushes every lineman this year down a slot, as does Latham. Penix and McCarthy still go to their respective teams.

If you are thinking about Hunter as a WR then you are picking MHJ over him.

Realistically 8 spots are spoken for in the top 10 (the 5 QB's, Alt, Latham and MJH). Realistically it goes

1. Bears: Williams
2. Commanders: Daniels
3. Patriots: Maye
4. Cardinals: MHJ
5. Chargers Alt
6. Giants: Hunter (first 2025 pick)
7. Titans: Latham
8. Falcons: Penix
9. Bears: Nabers
10. Vikings: McCarthy
11. Jets: Carter (second 2025 pick)
12. Broncos: Ward
13. Raiders: Nix
14. Saints: Graham (third 2025 pick)
15. Colts: Latu
16. Seahawks: Murphy
17. Vikings: Turner
18: Bengals: Fashanu
19. Rams: Verse
20. Steelers: Campbell (fourth 2025 pick)
21. Dolphins: Chop
22. Eagles: Mitchell
23. Jaguars: McMillan (fifth 2025 pick)

Then I think the rest of the first round goes the same.

I think Carter goes 8-10. Best DE
Hunter is a difficult one because he is a novelty pick . He would have been the 4th best
Ward and Sanders would probably be the 7-8 best QB’s
Bowers would have a higher rating than Warren
Graham could be the Top 1 or 2 DT’s
Campbell would be 3-4 best OT

In a redraft MHJ gets pushed outside of the top 10 because he didn't have an electric rookie season, I think Nabers takes his spot at #4, then Hunter at #6 is fine. Carter should still crack the top 10 as the best passrusher in the class.

Campbell would easily get pushed into the 20's because teams will see him as a guard who might moonlight as an LT but he is not as good as any of last year's top LT prospects.

No strong opinion on where Graham falls except his undersized measurements means he probably falls to the 15-20 range of last year's loaded draft.

Given that nearly half the players in the League were undrafted, much of this is sports media industry hype.

More like 25%, and lower for starters:

in 2022, 23% of the league's 1,696 players (around 393 players) were cited as undrafted,

Jeanty...WTF would waste #4 on Jeanty, Other than Love The Drake or someone of that ilk?
Dude had like 384 carries last year, Nevermind his catches.

Hunter imo is a top 2 or 3 talent pretty much any year. Carter is top 5 most years but his size could see him maybe fall out on a better DE draft. Graham imo is top 15. I just see issues with his lack of size and lack of elite burst. If you lack one you need the other. I don't think he has it. Campbell and Membou are top 15 too. In a draft with more prototypical OT options they may even be listed and high end guards with flexibility. Warren is top 12.. maybe top 10. Jeanty due to being an RB falls to just around the middle of the draft in an average year. Ward and Sanders are both guys who in a usual year would be the second best QB on the board.

23% isn't nearly half?
I thought I saw that number about a decade ago at 46%. Huh.

The QBs from last year still go 1-2-3. The next tier of prospects would be MHJ/Alt/Nabers from last year and Hunter/Carter from this year. Cam Ward probably fits somewhere behind the top 3 QBs but also someone that a team would take over the next group of guys depending on team need.

The horror is, in a draft where we need a 10 year+ Stud LT, Alt would have been there at #4 this year (he went #5 last draft). And, the Chargers who already had Rashawn Slater (a beast at LT and will only be 25 this season), grabbed Alt and put him at RT.

Interesting article that touches on the WR side of this LINK

Their rankings.

Malik Nabers (No. 6 overall to the New York Giants)
Rome Odunze (No. 9 to the Chicago Bears)
Brian Thomas (No. 23 to the Jacksonville Jaguars)
Hunter
Xavier Worthy (No. 28 to the Kansas City Chiefs)
McMillan
Ricky Pearsall (No. 31 to the San Francisco 49ers)
Xavier Legette (No. 32 to the Carolina Panthers)

I ready an article earlier in the process that of the guys that are ranked in the top 10 of this draft, only Hunter and Carter would likely to crack the top 10 in '24.

While I know that you can't dance if you can't find a dance partner, this is one of those drafts that when picking in the Top 5 (and given our needs), if we could trade far enough back into the 1st Round and still come away with Josh Simmons or Josh Conerly Jr, and get enough 2nd and 3rd Round Picks to address WR, RB, and whatever other position(s) we can in this draft and the next, we absolutely should. But, again, if no one will make that kind of trade with us, we might have to take the best LT at #4 who could start and be solid as a Rookie this season. If they end up becoming better than solid (this year and/or beyond), then awesome!

If you merge the big board from the 2 years, set aside team needs because the order is different, and consider the rookie seasons of the 2024 class:
- Daniels, Maye, Ward, Williams & Alt at 1-5
- Hunter, Nabors, Carter, Nix, & Graham at 6-10
- Jeanty, Penix, Membou, Latham & MHG at 11-15
- Sanders, Campbell, Warren, Verse & McCarthy at 16-20

So 5 of the top 7, and 11 of the top 20, would be from 2024 (bolded above).
