They hired and retained Wolf. They hired Mayo because the old man found him a charming travel companion. They kept Belichick after he had lost all interest in doing his job responsibly. They mouthed asinine happy talk when Belichick transitioned, with the Patricia/Judge fiasco, from mere self-indulgent petulance to outright pathology. They are more interested in keeping revenues up (and to a degree costs down), more interested in salesmanship, than they are in taking the medium-to-long view which which make an actual rebuild possible. They built a goddam lighthouse rather than a decent weight room. Do you really defend this as a record of competence?Ownership didn't make this decision. Milton is on a dirt cheap contract. Vrabel and Wolf didn't value Milton and the market didn't value him and they figured the return was better than keeping a third stringer they didn't think much of.
