i think soworse than the jimmy g?
It's more to this than we initially thought.. reports are coming out now of him telling the locker room he should be starting, ect.. likely there was dicension within the organization about him. Nothing wrong with being confident.. but dude... cmon..The point is that Milton as back-up QB is worth much more than a 5th round rookie, even if its another QB
Milton has showed promise that other guys taken in these rounds dont, even if its very limited exposure to NFL quality.
Not too long ago people were asking for a 2nd and/or 3rd for him (i pegged a 3rd back then)
In general, A 5th round rookie is a borderline roster player, Milton was already the QB#2
This is a very weird trade, Ross, unless the managent is sure of something not known publicaly
Vrabel has ZERO use for Milton on our even 90-man squad. Vrabel put him out to bid. He got what he could. The alternative was to cut him. What was even the point?
So you say.The point is that Milton as back-up QB is worth much more than a 5th round rookie, even if its another QB
Just woke up Patsy?? There's already 15 pages.
This.So you say.
Vrabel disagrees. He went out and signed our backup QB. Absent injury, Milton was never going to be Vrabel's backup QB. He was our #3 and wanted to be a starter.
There was no place on the patriots. It is really that simple. I would not be surprised if we used the 5th to sign our 2025 #3 QB. IMO, we should always be taking a shot with a 5th-7th round pick unless we believe that we have 3 in house that we liked (Milton vlearly didn't qualify to Vrabel).
If we hadn't picked up Dobbs I'd say differently.. however the pickup up Dobss was a sure sign Milton was gone one way or another..Vrabel has ZERO use for Milton on our even 90-man squad. Vrabel put him out to bid. He got what he could. The alternative was to cut him.
You’re forgetting to calculate the value of a backup for a year plus whatever value they get from the replacement player. They basically leased Milton for a year. It’s a 6th round value, Milton was a 6th round pick…. so they got nothing.
Or even the kid from Notre Dame. I could see Josh liking him.I'd prefer Will Howard. Great arm and very athletic.
Seemingly in Miltons mind/ego he feels as though he should be starting.. I love a players confidence.. but how about earning it?.. there was another 6th rounder that had to earn it... and I'm pretty sure he wasn't trying to undermine Drew..Remember the outrage over Ryan Mallett? People were thinking he was the next great thing for some weird reason. Milton played hero ball in a game worse than a preseason game.
This is what I thought. I suspect the Pats are low-keying the tension, and off-season workouts begin next Monday.OK, it’s an explanation, but I still don’t think it needed to be done now.
During the draft it is likely they would have had more leverage.
I think he's probably a little higher of a pick this year, with the class being so thin. I'm thinking Kurtis Rourke with the Dallas pick.Or even the kid from Notre Dame. I could see Josh liking him.

If he did start running his mouth, this does start to make senseSo you say.

Yeah.. that's what I'm thinking also. Probably was best to rid the situation of any potential issues. Vrabel wants Drake laser focused. This is what I thought. I suspect the Pats are low-keying the tension, and off-season workouts begin next Monday.
