Do you want Will Campbell at 4 assuming Hunter and Carter are off the board?

The tape says he is susceptible to being beaten on the inside with speed. I do think he will be alright as a LT.

Length is not the reason he has quick losses
I do think that problem with being beaten to the inside is coachable.

Someone explain Membou?

Campbell almost the same arm length as Membou
I never was high on Membou. He plays RT. It’s a guess if he can play LT
Campbell is a Leader, great locker room presence and played LT in the SEC for 4 years
He’s been my pick for awhile
This solidified it
I want Trapilo and Kendall also

CBS mock has Membou guy going before Campbell
So all these things are true for me:

1. I really like Campbell as a prospect.
2. With that wingspan, I do think his projection at LT is made more difficult. However I do think he can be a good enough LT.
3. At the very least, I think Campbell can be an all-pro level guard.
4. Despite the projection from the right to left, I have Membou higher than Campbell.
5. But I think the Patriots don't. I think they really like Campbell's character and rightfully so.

Sources are saying that Will Campbell is in trouble with his girlfriend.

With the NFL in his future she's pissed at all the female groupies surrounding him.

In his defense, he's claiming that he's keeping them at arm's length.

I'd rather someone else but if we address LT early I like a lot of the WR's that might be available at the end of the first and early second.

Who do you have your eyes on?

If Carter and Hunter are gone, and if we have several OT's ranked about the same, then try to trade down and pick up some draft capital - e.g. a high 3rd to move down to 5-6-7, Carolina's low 2nd to move down to 8, the Saints or Bears high 2nd to move down to 9 or 10. But if we have one OT that clearly ranks above the rest, then take him at 4. Campbell's a very good prospect, but so is Membou. The ideal safe move would be to trade with LV at 6 for their 3rd. They take Sanders, we take Campbell or Membou. Then we have three high 3rd's to use in a move up from 38.

I am the #1 Egbuka fanboy.

Really crisp route runner, good hands (only 3 drops last year), great blocker, good speed, just consistently gets open. He could be Maye's safety blanket out of the slot.

Remember Bob McGinn who used to write up the views of how NFL personnel viewed prospects and then would write an accurate mock on the eve of the draft? Unfortunately his work lies behind a Substack paywall now but I found this on Will Campbell.

1. WILL CAMPBELL, Louisiana State (6-6, 319, 4.98, 1): Third-year junior. “He’s super talented,” one scout said. “Can do it all. He’s quick, has feet, he’s athletic. His technique’s really good. In the run game, he can position or jolt people. In pass pro, he can mirror. He’ll give up some (pressure) every so often on an inside move mostly. He’s got Pro Bowl talent. His arms are a little short. That’d be the only concern.” Arm (32 5/8 inches) and hand (9 ½ inches) measurements at the combine (regarded as the standard by most teams) were the shortest/smallest among the top tackles. “There’s always exceptions, there’s always outliers,” the scout said.

I think Vrabel's comments on Campbell are spot on.
Regardless of his arms, he has been an elite tackle at SEC level for years, and tested as an elite athlete. The tape is the tape.

I see no reason why he cant be a #4 pick.

That's the hill I'm going to die on in this year's draft.

The arms thing has been debunked a bit, he measured at 33". The main question I have about OT is whether the Pats have a higher grade on Membou, who moves amazingly well.

Given the way free agency went I’ve come round to Campbell. We just have to find an LT in the draft. It’s a shame we haven’t left ourselves more flexibility but it is what it is. I like Membou but I’m not that sure he can play LT and if he can’t we don’t have a spot at RG or RT for him so I don’t see where he fits. With Campbell, he can definitely improve the line whether at LT or LG.

As I say, I’ve ruled out Graham on the basis of the Williams signing and Barmore returning. It’s just too much invested at DT. I still like Walker but I’m not sure we have the need there really. A bit of a luxury pick. And I think you have a much better chance at getting a WR at 38 than one of the tackles. So that really just leaves Campbell and not much else. I’d still hope to trade down to 6 and take him but I think he’s the guy at 4.

I think the obvious distinction between the 2 is that Campbell moves amazingly well at LT, and Membou amazingly well at RT.

I'm taking the LT.
