NFL Draft Talk

If Hunter is there, you don’t pass him up for ANYONE. This draft is known for not having an elite Olineman. Do we really want to go with the switching a RT to LT experiment again when it rarely works out ? It would be a criminal offense to take a RT over Hunter? A fireable offense.

Just like last draft, you don’t take an offensive lineman when there is a possible franchise QB there. You don’t take an Olineman when an elite prospect is available that can change your offense (and defense possibly).
I am not as high on Hunter as you appear to be. What is it about Hunter that you think makes him 4th pick worthy? For me the fact that he plays CB is a non issue because I think he would come here as a WR. He is pretty raw as a WR, not to say he wouldn't learn but if we are going a "project" with the 4th pick I would rather go with the best OT, imo.

Im warming up to Membou as a prospect since he has measurables of an All pro OT, unlike Campbell who is an average athlete at the position.

Hunter looks like he could be special at WR.

I'd prefer Hunter at #4, wouldn't be disappointed with Membou, would not like to see Campbell at all. We don't need a LG

He won the Biletnikoff award.

You don't win that if you're a raw WR prospect.

Jalin Hyatt and Corey Coleman have won the Biletmikoff and they are both very raw. I say that he is raw because he is not as accomplished route runner, his releases and route salesmanship is kinda meh. I have no doubt that he will improve if he focuses on being a WR.

At Colorado he lined up mostly on the right side of the formation and ran a limited route tree. He improved as a WR from 23 to 24, so again I am sure he will improve, but he is raw imo. Like I said I would not complain if they draft him because I think he will be very good.

This is the guy at X, who can also play in the slot…

Sometimes college guys just beat others because they are more powerful in college, and that's rarely going to happen in the pros.
You have to try and figure out WHO is just BETTER.
Gronk was just better, he beat up the interior and knew vacancies.

He was a BIG RISK For Bill with his back history. He took the risk ..he obviously sucks for doing so.

Simmons would be the same, he'll need a bunch of therapy . Not JUST an ACL, he blew out his PCL if I've read correctly
..
That's a big difference .
Some think it's NP.

Hunter has elite athleticism like suddenness, hand- eye coordination, and football IQ. Similar to Justin Jefferson. Hunter has a great release, comes out of his stems really well, and understands when to sit in zones. Hunter has both a high contested catch % and a very low drop rate. Excelling in so many areas is unusual for a WR. Hunter won both the Biletnikoff and Heisman trophies.

With both McDaniels and Maye having a strong work ethic and high football IQ, Hunter would be a great fit with them.

Even the best OT in this year's draft is flawed. If Hunter's flaw is a lack of experience at the college level, than he is the right pick.

Comparing Membou to Caeden Wallace is ridiculous. Wallace was a 24 years old right tackle who had a relative athletic score of 8.23, . Membou is a 20 year old who at 6’4 330 ran a sub 5 40 played Right Tackle and had a relative athletic score of 9.89, which put him in the top 20 of all tackles since 1987. Good left tackles start out at right tackle all the time in college, and they move to left tackle as those ahead of them move on, and almost all of them came into college as left tackles out of high school. Now, because of the Caeden Wallace pick, there are a number of Patriot fans who seem to believe that any kid who played at right tackle in college is a right tackle for life, regardless of their age or athleticism.

Agree with this. I would love to see this kid in a Patriots uniform.
He should go above Tet and may if scouts don’t think Tet loves football.
He has to shown he’s grown since then, or he may miss the first round all together,

I’m still Hunter or a trade down.
Would love to leave the draft with a combination of Kyle Williams, Jayden Higgins, Tet if he drops, Isiah Bond, Matthew Golden. I’ll throw a name nobody is talking about as well in the third or fourth Tai Felton Maryland,
Last time a Maryland wr caught my eye it was Diggs.

I think Felton has a high ceiling.

Of course if Hunter is there at 4 if you don’t run up with that card you shouldn’t be a Scout or GM

I like Hunter, but I don’t think we as fans have enough information to be able to judge how their board is stacked. By this point they have watched every play of every top player and broken them down in detail based upon what criteria they see as most important for success or failure in the pros. They could have 2 guys in the top tier, or they could have 6-8. They could be looking to deal out and pick up a 2nd, or they could be dead set on taking BPA. And given the job they have done to this point I won’t be calling for their heads just because they make a pick at 4 that I don’t agree with. I hate MacMillen as a prospect, but if for some reason they have decided he’s the pick at 4 I will simply have to deal with it and hope that I’m completely wrong about him. And I’m certainly not going to blame them if they decide to take Campbell address their #1need with a kid who has proven himself against the best competition in the country snap after snap, game after game, throughout his career. I would probably take Membou, because of his ceiling, but Campbell is a great prospect as well.

I get that as fans we all have our likes and dislikes, and strong opinions on these prospects, but that should never be conflated with the amount of information they have put together on these kids, and how they see them fitting into the team. They will make picks I like, and picks I hate, but they sure as hell know a lot more about them than I do.

A key question is what can you get for a trade down. Probably only a third. Need to be sure your choice will still be there

He won the Biletnikoff award.

You don't win that if you're a raw WR prospect.

It's fair to say Hunter is raw, which is what makes him such a valued prospect. If he played WR only, he'd be more polished, but what the experts see is elite ball skills and playmaking ability.

Right, you can only coach that so much, it’s god given, think to Larry Fitzgerald, hand eye coordination awareness unmatched. That stuff matters In the NFL when the windows are tighter and defense is tighter yet.

You don’t take anything less than a 2nd for the 4 pick. If no one is willing to give it then stay put and make the pick. You don’t risk getting the guy you want for a 3rd round pick.

I would be very upset if they drafted Membou. Hopefully Scar is still a consultant and would nix Membou. I watched a few minutes of tape and he was blatantly holding on every play. Yecch. I did not see that with Campbell.

If Hunter is gone at 4, trade down if possible. If not, take Campbell.....

As boring as this may sound, I think that the Patriots will end up having to take Campbell at 4, sigh.
