Tet McMillan or Tyler Warren

McMillan isn't the same type of WR either. He's closer to Michael Pittman Jr., who is a WR1 in his own right, but on the lower end of the spectrum. The thing with McMillan is he is one of the few true X receivers in this draft class littered with Z and slot types. I went with McMillan for that reason but I wouldn't hate having Warren, even if that crowds the TE room for 2025.

I am not 100% sure what you mean by an X receiver, but Luther Burden III certainly seems like one to me. He is big and has deep speed. In addition he has an extra gear when on the run and was able to walk away from CBs (SEC CBs?). Now take this with a grain of salt--I have not looked at all the top WRs and I am not a scout; it is hard to evaluate a WR if you do not know who he is lining up against. If the WR was lining up across from Travis Hunter then her is not going to look so good.

On McMillan though, it's glaringly obvious that a lot of the people who don't rate him have never watched a minute of his tape. Comparing him to N'Keal Harry is laughable. McMillan is a beast, I don't think we'll take him, because one of Hunter or Carter should be there, but he's going to be one of those players that the same posters on here will be saying "we could've taken T-Mac at 4" about in a few years

When I look at Warren he reminds me of the long term QB/TE relationships with many successful NFL teams as well as Gronk.. plays hard with a lot of passion.

Another reason for this, in addition to maintaining order and ease of access, is that anyone reading our own draft gurus on the draft board would know that there's no WR rated anywhere near a 1st round value/talent in this draft. After reading the reviews there, you are looking at a whole bunch of 3rd and 4th receivers for teams. Other than Hunter, of course.

My main thought process behind starting this thread was because I was thinking, what if the Pats miss out at Hunter at 4, but still felt they needed a pass catcher at 4. McMillan & Warren are the consensus next best pass catchers available that would be there at 4.

I like both a lot. But Warren is the most versatile and exciting pass catcher available after Hunter. He really wouldn’t be a “reach” at 4. I’ve actually seen several mocks having Warren at 5. He is a quick riser in this draft, and since Maye has shown a propensity to liking throwing to TEs, and McDaniels has created some excellent offenses around TEs, I wouldn’t be shocked OR upset if the Pats picked Warren at 4 only IF Hunter is gone.

As for McMillan, I’m a HUGE fan of his. He has A LOT of Tee Higgins in him. Remember him ? The guy we were all drooling over hoping he would be a free agent so we could throw 30-32 million at. Well yeah, McMillan is very similar to Higgins. You all are afraid that he will become the next N’Keal Harry, and I get it. But there are a lot of NFL stars who ran similar 40 yard dashes similar to McMillan’s, but still became stars despite having pedestrian 40 yard dashes. Hell, our beloved Tee Higgins ran a 4.59. McMillan ran faster than Higgins. I would NOT be upset if the Pats take him at 4 if Hunter is gone, not based on the 40, but based on the overall picture of what he does as a receiver.

Neither would be a reach at 4. I don’t believe in reaches when it comes to extremely talented players, and both would improve the Pat’s offense. Nobody knows what the Pat’s board looks like, they might have McMillan or Warren near the top of their board, and if Hunter goes at 3, and if they still feel they need a talented offensive weapon.

This may all be moot, we may be lucky enough to land Hunter at 4. That would obviously be my preference. He’s my favorite player in the draft, and I feel he’s the best player in the draft.

And I’m ONLY talking about offense. If Hunter is gone and Carter is there, Carter is the best defender and I feel the 2nd best player in the Draft behind Hunter. Grab Carter immediately. BPA.

I’m on the McMillan board as far as liking him a lot. I prefer Warren. But would be happy with McMillan at 4. He has a lot of Tee Higgins in him, and he also has some TE qualities in him due to the way he boxes out defenders in contested catches. Harry was an excellent college receiver, but couldn’t buy a clue in the NFL. There have been plenty receivers who’ve become great receivers in the NFL with Harry like combine numbers, he just couldn’t figure it out. I feel McMillan is a much better prospect than Harry. McMillan is a consensus top 10 draft prospect. Harry was a late 1st, early 2nd round rated receiver.

Tet could end up a star WR, but I think he has a higher chance of being a bust. Drafting a bust at #4 overall would hurt this team's future significantly.

We have to come away with a foundational piece at #4 who we can rely on to be a really good starter for at least 2 contracts.

If I had to choose one between the two it would be Warren, although taking a TE at #4 overall isn't really a sound strategy. If he becomes baby Gronk or Kelce, then that would be a home run and would be worthy of the pick. But those two are two of the greatest to play the position and the likelihood of Warren being that good is slim. It's more likely that he becomes something like Mark Andrews. Is that worth a #4 pick?

Just saw an interview with MacMillen and he says he doesn’t watch football at all. The last time I saw a player say this it was Dominique Easley, and his complete lack of interest in the game was obvious from the beginning. He was a total bust. They should stay as far away from this kid as possible, he’s going to be a waste of a pick. He then says he doesn’t like to watch film either, and that he doesn’t need to because they go over it in the receivers room. Seriously, **** this kid.

He had the most contested catches in college football, if you can’t get separation in college there is no way you are getting it in the pros. He has zero interest in football, no way I’m using a first round pick and millions of dollars on a kid who doesn’t give a **** about being great at his profession. I wouldn’t take this kid at all.

WR is the bigger need and at least for us has been the harder one to fill too. Even if it's a reach it's time to invest more heavily at WR.
