I think it was actualy the Hells Angels that provided "protection" for the Caberet...not sure.

The Squire....I think my buddies and I went there 2 weeks before the mob hit. August of '92 IIRC. Yea...scary. We didn't know better.
I have a similar Angels story at a strip club in Rochester NY. They were providing security. I went with a handful of clients, the guys were scared to go in, seeing all the bikes out front. I told them they were no doubt taking the door and supplying security. I said don't eff with the girls, say hello if they say hello, mind your business and you'll be fine. One guy asked how I knew this, and another one said "he's from Laconia, he knows."

I will admit I am a huge Sopranos fan and have watched the show countless times so I am probably biased but I don't never understood why so many people didn't like that episode. I get that some people just wanted a mafia show where they whack each other but I always enjoyed this episode delving into Tony's psyche. The whole city/town "Kevin Finnerty" was in as a sort of purgatory, Steve Buschemi as the grim reaper, the kids voices calling through the trees (the trees are a whole new rabbit hole I could go down), and just the eerie feeling as he approaches the inn.

I loved that "what if" storyline but I realize I am in the minority as far as fans of the show go.
It's understood that Chase wanted to use the Kevin Finnerty angle to explore the whole, "Is Tony who he is because of his environment or is it his actual being",and we got the answer. I actually liked the "briefcase" episode. The season with Tony Bundetto was excellent.

The other one was the episode with the moth on Raphie's head. Just kinda weird...but I get what Chase was trying to do.

But yea....it's in my top 5 still. I think a sequel to "The Many Saints of Newark" has been green lit. We'll see how that turns out.

I'm not sure of the name of the place we saw the Hells Angels but it was just down the street from Kelly's Roast Beef and a joint called Eddie Mac's. It might have been called the Rosebud at the time.

I was at the Squire twice. The first time a brawl broke out between two groups of guys. The second time I was walking out after the bartender yelled for a bouncer because she took half my beer and I said something. That was when I saw two guys get dragged out after buying food but not a drink. As they were dragging them out one of the bouncers was kicking one of the guys in the nuts. I found out later that one of the men came back and stabbed the bouncer. Not a great place to go really.
Jesus.

Yea we didn't stay long. We went to Revere Beach for the day and hit the Squire kinda early in the evening the same day. Yea once was enough.

I worked electronics/computer retail in my teens/college and sold a scanner to a member of the Pagans who was heading up to Laconia. Nice guy.

OT: Sons of Anarchy was an excellent show the first few seasons. The Mayans.....meh.

Yea that looks real good.

Tom Hardy is a wacko. Loved him in Peaky Blinders and the other movie he played twin mobsters.
Mobland and Zero Day are our next watches. Big fan of Tom Hardy.

The worst ending of any series ever. I'm still pissed about it. But I wouldn't let that drop them down my list.

Here's my top whatever;
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Sopranos
Band of Brothers
Better Call Saul
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Succession
Two and a Half Men
Seinfeld
The Wire
Fargo
True Detective
Cosmos
The Twilight Zone
Great list -- I might swap True Detective Season 1 with Band of Brothers, And add in Boardwalk Empire?

Curb Your Enthusiasm
I split out the serious shows from the comedies but this, Seinfeld, Ted Lasso, and 2.5 Men are my favs in that comedy/light watching category.

I love the show too, just rewatched it a few months back. Much as I enjoy all the mafia stuff, my favorite bits in the show were Tony’s session with Dr. Melfi. Uncovering all the layers of his character and such. I had so much fun debating the final scene of the show too, finding it brilliant rather than outraging (I interpreted it as a breaking of the fourth wall and that the viewing audience was whacked, but that’s another can of worms). The Finnerty parts I understood the symbolism of purgatory, the introspection of the paths people take in life, how even clean, family man Kevin had blood on his hands as someone who sold weapons to the military, whereas Tony’s methods of violence were more direct. My issue is IMO they took too much time on it (two episodes, which I had to double check because I originally thought it was three). I liked the various dream sequences, the weird boardwalk ones and such. But I would’ve preferred they condensed that to half of that. That’s my main gripe. The show is still brilliantly written with lots of nuance and callbacks throughout.

(I can only hope the Stefon Diggs experience is just as fun here! Trying desperately to steer us back on topic a little, lol)

I liked Vikings and The Last Kingdom on Netflix and am currently re-watching GOT. I enjoy the medieval stuff.

I liked Vikings too. Kinda lost a bit of it's fastball when the main character was offed but his arc was on the downside. Then they made Lagretha into an old hag.

Probably either The Sandbar or The Lighthouse (aka Fighthouse). If the English bikes were all on one side and the Harleys on the other out front, it was The Lighthouse and one of the Nortons may or may not have been mine

It's kinda weird to see Steve Buscemi in a serious role, but he totally pulls it off!
He was great.

I loved that show because the secondary characters were also incredible.

Ted Lasso is great. Hope the new season is as good.

OT: My sister in-law is a conference planner for a big financial company.

Jason Sudeikis appearance/speaking fee + travel, accommodations, meals = $600k.

Boardwalk Empire was a bit like The Wire that way, second and even third tier characters in both shows were given enough backstory that if nothing else made their motivations and the characters inclusion credible. Both shows also took great pains to be faithful to their in universe continuity. Arguably the biggest failing of GoT its last 2 seasons
